Hey guys I just went to the doctor because of my ingrown toenails that have been bothering me for a few weeks now. I found out that I'm going to need minor surgery to remove about half my toenails on both big toes:( There going to have to use multiple needs to freeze my toes up. I will most likely be getting the operation done in the next few weeks. Wish me luck.

That sounds terrible, I hope they don't keep you waiting too long. I have problems with my toenails too (toenail fungus).

I just saw an ad on the screen for "Toenail Fungus Laser removal" :wtf: I wonder if it works.

I had the same thing 15 years ago, its not so bad didn't hurt to much. Walking was a bit of an issue for the first few days after but not a big deal I just sat around and played video games lol.

What about like during the operation? Did you feel anything?

They usually will use Ladacaine and shoot it in several places to numb the toe and then take a set of special pliers and bisect the nail if they just dont completely remove it.. then take a set of forceps and pull it out of the nail bed.. I have neither of my big toe nails because of problems with ingrown toe nails. the whole thing lasts about thirty minutes.. if it was me I would have them remove the whole thing and then kill the matrix.. It takes 6 to 8 weeks to have the nail grow back and chances are it will go ingrown again.. But that is just my opinion.. Make sure that they at least send you home with a couple pain killers because aspirin does diddly.. were sandals or lose shoes because your toe will start to hurt about a hour after the procedure.. and dont bump it but its a given

No, it's like the dentist drilling a tooth, it's frozen so you don't feel it but at the same time you are aware they are doing something down there and feel just minor pulling/prying/vibrations etc.

Ok. Unfortunately I'm allergic to most painkillers. And I will let the nail grow in again and if it keeps on getting ingrown all just get them to remove it permanently.

well that sucks not being able to take some thing for the throbbing pain for a couple days.. most doctors will not kill it till you have a history with them becoming infected! but the whole thing is not that bad
