my 1 watt blue laser only stings my hand doesn't and cant burn threw it.

I think 1W 445 could burn through hand easily. It would just take long time. Hours I mean. It for sure can do serious burns .. if it just 'stings', there is something wrong with yours.

I'm guessing once it starts 'stinging' he stops shining it at his hand... Anyway the movie laser burned instantly down to at least blood and possibly to the bone and it was moving quickly because it left a red swirly mark on her hand..

At least now people get afraid of 5mW, that may just help people forget the idea that lasers are just simple toys.
An excimer laser used in normal lasik procedures is pulsed and far is the uv, so invisible. It actually has a map of the eye where to remove tissue and it tracks the eye if it moves. Quite sophisticated.

I don't think the muggles pay that much attention to the numbers on the official looking computer screen in movies...

So i guess they ordered the "horror" version of the lasik machine for the movie eh? :p

I always notice such things. I wouldn't call the 5mw red version a horror version, unless you also consider it's annoying sound.

I was talking more about the horrifying look of the machine and the "head clamp"

I'm thinking mine was clamped down pretty good. They also used something like in the movie to hold my eyelids open. Of course they put drops in your eyes to remove the urge to blink.

I do remember thr doctor sorta yelled at me one time because I moved my eye when the laser was coming on. Seems like it was quite loud when it fired.

I know they clamp your eyes open but I didn't think they clamped your head down.
Did it make the pew pew sound?

Lol. No. I may be wrong but I thought it sounded like loud hammering. It's been a few years now.

Every piece of medical equipment makes a loud hammering noise... Is that some sort of FDA requirement? X-ray machines, MRIs, Surgical lasers... what gives? Do they have to add a special "bang making" module?

Maybe there is a midget with a hammer trapped inside and when they turn the machine on he gets zapped and he's just trying to escape?
