Here is my tracking info from ems. Is this normal or did it get taken my customs?
Its a 100mw green module so its not a complete laser, shouldn't those pass customs no problem?

This is why you don't use "express shipping" from China. It (sometimes) sends a red flag up to customs. :tinfoil:
Sorry, sounds like your laser module is in custody. :cool:

All packages have to be passed to customs. It should just pass through.

Yep - That's totally normal, in 24 hours or so your tracking will say "desptch from Customs" (or something to that effect) and then it's all up to the USPS to get it to you.

I use EMS for almost all my laser shipments (components AND fully assembled lasers) and have never had a problem, so you should be just fine, Amigo!

Well. Let's hope that they are right and I am wrong. After all. It really is just a module, and not a fully assembled pointer with batteries, so it should have been fine. :whistle:
But, with the experience I have with shipments from China (and how often I checked and re-checked the "track and confirm" information), I never saw anything like this:

But, then again, I don't use "express" shipping and I always get my laser shipments from China. So, IDK

I know this thread is old but I am going through the exact same heart palpatations right now. I have a 473nm laser with the EXACT same scenerio from EMS. It has been 24hrs so I am checking the tracking now every 5 minutes. I have had 2 packages taken by customs and never received although one was clearly labeled 100mW laser pointer on the customs declaration form.

EMS sometimes has a higher customs check risk. Registered Air Mail seems better to ship high power laser. Looks like they just have had so much time to check so many air mails.

Going on 35 hours in US customs hands now. The LAX one. I hate that one. They're the bastards you got a hold o my expensive package around a year ago.

I guess that your 473 is a handheld and not the o-like 50 or 80mW labby? Hope that you didn't get on some computer watch list at LAX after that issue a year ago. It is the Christmas season, so maybe customs is backlogged. We can only hope ...

On a side note.
I would suggest for all of us to not check the tracking number too often.
USPS and hong kong post are all connected. When a package with a tracking number is entered in hong Kong, that number is also given to the countries destinations mail system.
I would not be surprised if they can see how many times a package in inquired about.
If your checking twice a day over a two week period, it could send up a red flag.
Especially if the package has been declared as a $10 flashlight.

It is actually not from O-like. It also has still yet to clear customs. By the way this is a 5mW laser. But then again so were the 157 that they took last time.

I have a laser comin through EMS also and that it was handed over to customs 19 days ago when I got the notification. Should I be worried about this since the average release from customs was around a day?
