hey TL, while I laugh most of the time at your comments and pics, was it really necessary to call people product whores? fanboy is fine but I just feel you went a little over on that one

on the Elites, the casing definitely is nice. One thing about WL is they know how to make nice looking lasers, and if these Elites really are what they are said to be, then wow... but yea, i really don't have high hopes for it[/quote]
And so says the last of the die hard fanboys ;D ;D

Well I find it hard to believe that the average output only varies by 4mw or so with Nimh vs lithiums, that sounds fishy to me.

It is possible if it has a decent driver. There is very little difference in output on my X105 no matter which type of battery I use.

I was just about to make a post about your testings! ;D

160mW is possible from a pen sized laser, didn't xarlx have a DX200 that outputed 179mW? Even though it is possible, the thing the confuses is me is how are they going to be able to keep up to demand of a very rare unit? Could this one have a bigger pump diode and crystal set? I bet the price will be over the price of an RPL-165, and IMO at those power levels I would rather have something that is well heatsinked and has FDA saftey compliants than a pen sized unit with a much lower duty cycle. I have to admit the case does look sweet though.

I did have a 179mw green on AAAs but it was tested on good quality energizer AAAs, on the stock batteries it doesn't seem to have as much punch, maybe equivalent to ~100mW. On nimh rechargeables, it doesn't seem to be that good either but maybe because they are not high drain rechargeables. I suspect that in my case, the crystal assembly, alignment and ir diode were all good but the battery and driver circuit is the limiting factor.

I don't doubt WL can produce >160mW green in AAA pensized. Just that it doesn't make sense to run it off AAAs when good AAs or lithium rechargeables can provide higher drain requirements of the pump diode. And WL prices don't make sense either even if their body housings are really sexy.

We'll see.
Looks very nice,
But why don't they brag about new diode or something else in quality to justify higher output. People like to hear these things about new products.

Again, its the less technically picky customers they hope to target and keep on their forum.
