eBay laser pointers with ir filter?

I want to buy a green laser from EBAY and I could care less about the mw or nm as long it can shine OK and far 0.5mw and up is what I want, but I want one that has an ir filter so it can block out the harmful infrared light. If possible please make it cost less than $15.
If there are no lasers with ir filter can someone tell me where to buy some?
Also is a 5mw green laser harmful if you stare at it on the wall? I'm new to laser stuff.

1)I'm currently looking to buy a green 5mw laser with 16340 battery with charger. I think the model name is X850-C and I think the name of it is JD-850. This one costs $6.99.

2)I'm also looking to buy a 2 pcs green laser that says max 5mw and looks fairly cheap and simple and looks like a pen with a silver end and a small silver button on the middle of the laser. This 2 pcs cost $6.98.

3)Last but not least I'm looking to buy a laser that has a label that says laser 301 and is 5mw. It comes with 2 keys which i assume are to turn it on and it can zoom in and out. This one costs $6.99.zoom laser.jpg

Most definitely all of those listed lasers in the OP will be over 5mw, more around 45-80mw, although some could be more and could be less.

As far as having an IR filter installed, unless it is stated in the description, they will not have one. IR leakage has always been a problem/concern with the 301/303/850 style 532nm lasers since there isn't an IR filter.

To stay under your budget of $15, you can buy any of those listed lasers, and always install your own IR filter. You can find them all over and can get some on e bay for a couple bucks.

This is just an example but will work as I've used one similar on a 301 of mine.

Ok thanks for the reply although I asked this same thing on YAHOO but the answers I got said that any laser with 5mw or less will not leak ir and that even if the laser leaks a lot of ir, it is not harmful unless you stare directly into the laser.

Adrian, ok your in the US but I believe there are some issues with batteries being shipped with the laser itself when you order directly from China. Maby someone will chime in. If this is true you might have to seperate order them which will throw your budget off a little.
The 2 pack pens work with 2 AAA batteries which isn't an issue. Most like the 301's as they have a good feel to them but those keys are a safety lock for a button switch on the side.
Like said they will most likely be more than 5mw and closer to 50mw on average. As for the IR its good to worry but you should be ok as long as you never stare into the beam and always look from the sides. Staring at the dot on a wall on these green you plan to buy will get a bit tiresome on the eyes as they most likely be over spec but viewing the beam isn't an issue.
Anyway you choose most members "probably' started with these but remember you get what you pay for but its a good learning experience.
Always remember to put the battery in the correct way as these green 532nm will blow instantly if put in incorrect.

I wouldn't worry too much about IR.
Any higher powered laser will damage your eyes, regardless being IR filtered or not.

Under 50 mW you are pretty much safe, unless you shine it at other people or at mirrors.

Lower powered green lasers are actually relatively expensive (at least compared to feebay greenies).

As Cel mentioned you don't need to be overly concerned with IR. The beam is where your concern should be focused. Basically as long as you don't have the beam pointed at your eyes you don't need to be concerned with IR. Watch where you point it though as you can be hit in the eye by a beam reflection. Think of it as safe with the beam, safe with the IR;)
Not all 532nm lasers will blow if you put the batteries in backwards but it's best if you don't goof. For most the batteries go the opposite of a flashlight so that the + end goes towards the tail/back end.

In a side note I went through all of my lasers and I have 28 532nm ranging from 25 to 93mW (peak and that includes the IR) that I am going to be offering to anyone who wants them 2 for $20 or 4 for $30 which includes US shipping priority mail small box shipping that will cost me $6.80. The catch is I'm going to have them in groups so that if you buy the highest mW one then you get the lowest mW one left as your second. If you want 4 then you get of whatever higher output ones you want and the 2 lowest ones left. They will all come with whatever batteries happen to be in them also and all will have batteries. Paypal only
One catch is GSS gets first dibs on anything before anyone else too:)

Adrian, this offer from Pman might just be the best way to go. Your getting measured laser's with no guessing of output and batteries. Fast 2 day shipping from one of the most trusted members on the forum.
Shipping from China and ebay can take up to month and all that travel could result in a broken laser on arrival. Then it would cost an extreme amount of money to send it back for a replacement. Something to really think of:)

I think I'm going to stick with eBay for now since out of my 3 years of shopping on eBay, I have never received a faulty item, even though I have purchased over 40+ items so my trust for eBay is 100% for now. The closest thing to something damaged I have bought was a microscope with somewhat bad lens quality. My budget is at $15 since I need a specific amount of money for some other items I need to buy, but great offer since I know for sure what I'm getting.

Again thanks for all the info

e Bay is a crap shoot when talking about cheap 532s. At least with my luck, every (3) I'd order I'd have to get a refund/replacement for (1) defective one. But totally understand when it comes to budgeting, hopefully you can score a good laser. I have a 301 that Ive carried with me for 8+ months everyday, have dropped it from 10+ feet can't even tell you how many times and I'm shocked its still going strong. But then I've also had many die from the easiest bumps or rolls onto carpet and then dead!! So it's a gamble

At least if you buy from PMan you know you will get a solid and possibly custom 532, it will be provided with LPM readings and the workmanship will be top notch. Not no mass produced 301/303 there.

I second that.

And you'll get a laser that you'll love and will be proud of. Totally worth it IMO.

Another thing to consider is Pman uses mainly fastech's 532nm modules and these for some reason in my opinion have great beam spec's and very limited mod hopping compared to the 301's or any ebay pointer in general. The modules themselves cost him just about the same as a complete 301 unit.
