I have recently been looking for IR diodes and the only place that really seems to have them is ebay. I have read posts about IR diodes from a while back saying snoctony on ebay sells good diodes. But when I look at his store he is selling IR diodes VERY expensive Snoc Electronics items - Get great deals on He is selling a 1W IR diode for $70, but when I first saw it I thought the $70 was for a 5-pack. So I asked him if he could only sell me 1 because i didnt need 5 and didnt have $70 to spare and he said that I was mistaken and its not a 5-pack its only for one. So do you guys have any suggestion were I could buy a decently prices 500mw or 1W 808nm diode.

If you want to make 532nm heuur is not the best bet. His 808s are crappy.

To the OP, you want burners or DPSS? I have an assortment.

I have off spec that I can sell reduced price.

Also, snoc diodes are 808, but the price of 70. is,
and always has been for 1pc

No, I didnt want to make 532nm out of it, I just wanted a burner and what do you mean an off spec

I disagree with you regarding Chris's 9 mm 808 2 watt diodes. I have purchased many of said diodes and output at 1.5 A is 1.6-2.3 W. These will cut a match stick in half in less than 3 seconds. Watt for Watt these are similar in emission to the 445

Stay away from Chris at all costs. Do your homework around here and you'll see why he can only sell on ebid, and why his bank accounts, credit cards, and eBay accounts have been locked. You just got lucky wolf, I would not give him a penny.

Speaking directly in regards to the diodes he has...
If you are not building a DPSS system, then i'd say
his diodes are fine. The ones ive tested from him
were so off spec that a 1W diode yielded less
than 5mW of 532nm..

He still advertises his LD's as "DPSS 808nm pump diodes"
when in fact the only thing they are good for is burning...

There are also many customers who have been given the
run around by him. That said, I wouldnt spend anything
on his stuff anymore. Every aspect of dealing with him
is risk at best..

Come on, he have explained at length how he has been banned everywhere including paypal solely due to his nefarious competitors ganging up on him and piling on the neg-rep.

It has nothing whatsoever to do with his business practises, he say so himself. ;)

Hey Wannaburn, I trust your opinion. The thing is sometimes for the price , we have to take chances. Many people are against WL now after waiting so long for their Arctics, but I for one was patient, and received a kick ass laser

what he means by to-5 package is the type of diode, a 9mm canned diode iirc.

so no package of 5 diodes:yh:

Like many others, I 'took the chance' and here we are ;)

I am willing to bet that there are people that
bought his "808nm" LD's and gave up on trying
a DIY 532nm laser just because the LD they were
using was crap as a pump source. I was almost one
of them.

Had I not purchased real pump diodes from snoctony
prior to dealing with herru, I probably wouldn't have
even noticed the diodes were to blame. I would have
thought that my lack (at the time) of experience was the issue..

Even after it was confirmed, and heruu was aware that
they weren't good for pumping, he continued to sell
them as such.

Hmm I still have a bunch of heruur diodes, I think I'll toss them up on Radiant Elec for a few bucks.
