Im Thinking of getting a DX green.. should i go for: DX true 100 or DX 150... i have heard the 150 is sometimes not 150 but like 100..
wheras the "trues" are reliable

would someone give a full review of the DX green Range Please??

If you're looking for higher power I'm sure many would not recommend DX at all. But rather, Nova or Optotronics. I only have the "True 5mW" as of right now (True 30mW on its way) and it's nice but I don't expect it to hold up for too long. I say save up a bit more and get an X-Series from Nova Lasers and you will be much happier! ;)

I have a DX 50mW greenie, and I doubt it's truly 50mW. I'm probably going to tear it apart, attach a TEC, and mod it for higher output.

I'll tell you how to spend your cash.

Dx true 30 $24.57 sku:469
Assuming you have a charger Dx AAA BTY 1350 $3.50 sku:6292
Dx focusable module $4.30 sku:5914
Sony Diode $19.50 Stonetek.org
Dx MXDL Flashlight $12 sku:4171
Dx CR123A 5 pack $4.30 sku:5639
Various maplin parts £(couple of quid)

And make one of these
http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1186966870

Outcome is two lasers, more power and money still in your pocket (to put towards safety glasses)

Only a couple of people on here have had higher powerd lasers from dx. 200mw ones, not sure about the 150/100.

If you want 30mw get the 'true', they're pretty much guarenteed to work as advertised and are perfect for what you're wanting to do with them. A couple of people have had theirs die quickly though.

The 100mw has four good reviews on the site, the 150 only has the one.

If you're wanting to risk it i'd say get the 'true' 100mw or spend the extra £10 and try your luck with the 200.

why is this in the review section :\ supposed to be saying whats good/bad about them not asking questions...
but yes if someone has a few it would be nice to hear what they have to say since they are fairly cheap units and almost too good to be true

If your looking for value, try out TechLaser's infiniti 95mw. Mine is an awesome laser, can do most of the experiments that people talk about (popping balloons, lighting matches, cutting electrical tape).

Downsides are that it sucks lots of battery power, and its rather hard to get the lens perfectly clean again when it gets dusty. I keep mine in a ziplock bag so it doesn't get dusty too often.

Well any pen sized laser that runs off AAA's is gonna be terrible on battery life, so I wouldn't consider that a downside of the infiti 95mW cause it is a downside of all CNI pen lasers. Recharable AAA's should solve the problem of low battery life.

This is almost identical to what I did. Ordered a DX True 30, and built a MXDL red burner from a Senkat Diode ;)

Now, I'm putting plans together for a larger, heatsinked benchtop red burner with adjustable power and serious cooling. *Evil Laughter*

I got my DX 200 MW green a few days ago. Man this thing is BRIGHT! It will light white matches (with black sharpie on them) it will light green and red matches with no sharpie needed. It will etch black plastic of all kinds. It will etch retinas too.
I took it outside after the sun went down and called my wife. Showed her the beam. She said "holy shit, it's like a light saber!"
All I can say is that if you get one, be very careful where you point it. Also, be careful of where and how you store it. This thing is like a loaded gun (since this pointer has no key lock or other safety devices). I'm conviced it will permanently blind someone in a fraction of a second.
I don't have equipment to test output, but I do have a ebay greenie <5 mw.
There is no comparison between these 2 pointers. You have to be directly behind the <5 mw to see the beam at night. The DX200mw you can be see it from where-ever you are (I'm sure up to 1/4 mile away) I'm talking seeing the beam from the side here.
Cool laser for a great price.
Now, I've got to try my soldering technique and make daedel's burner. I've got the host flashlight (seems a shame to tear this great light apart...), and I've got 2 16x diodes ready to go. Just a trip to radio shack and a spare weekend and I should be up and burning (not my retina's this time though!).   :D
