Does anyone else have to refresh pages to update

Maybe its me but when a page changes (a new post, new PM, addition to my profile, ect) and I log onto the page, the updated page doesn't load. Its the original page that loads. The one before the change. I have to click refresh in order to get the updated page. It sounds minor, but its a pain in the ass having to keep reloading updated pages all the time.

Anyone else having this problem? Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is there an inherant lag in the system?

Thanks

What browser are you using, try pressing F5 that helps sometimes.

IE6

Its probably this old laptop I'm using. I have a better PC but I use it for editing only. It doesn't go on the internet. I keep the resources low so its fast at processing.

As soon as you load the network drivers it drops your speed 15% with the added processes and all the programs trying to access the internet at the same time. Then add internet junk, firewall, antivirus ect, and you could literally loose 30% in power. So my 933mhz is really running at under 700mhz. Extra RAM can pick up some of the slack, but I'm maxed out.

There is a lot of info that needs to be loaded with this new forum. More than likely these older computers cant keep up. Even if you clean your temp files, it would take even longer because it has more to load.

Oh well...:(

I do like the new forum though. Lots of options to play with and it makes it much more personal. :)

We need more smilies !!!

it does it to everyone as far as I know. I'm working with cold to see if we can resolve it.

Yeah, Cold is in the process of contacting Vbulletin to see if there is a way to resolve this but honestly, I don't think there is ANYTHING that can be done to resolve the issue.

At the very top of the page in the center is a button titled "New Posts" and it will literally give you an updated list of all the new threads that have arrived since the last time you clicked the button. Till we hear back from cold concerning this issue it's a good means of keeping up to date on the newest threads and not having to go back and view the old threads that have no interest to you.

It's nothing to do with the age or speed of the computer. I have a similar issue on another vB forum (which I can use with IE6): after reading a page and using the "back" button to get back to the thread overview, I have to "refresh" to change the thread to "read". Well, that's at least a bit understandable, as the browser is probably reusing the cached page (actually I've set it to "check for new versions of page at every visit", so it's not fully understandable).

Here, however, it's worse: some threads will be marked "read" after refresh, others won't be - no idea yet where the difference is (I have to use the "mark forum read" button for these). After reading a post and then going directly to the forum display via link does not get the thread into "read" status either.

This is for FF (can't use IE here due to disabled ActiveX and "unsupported HTTP requests").

sometimes you have to log out of the forum and relog in to get threads to show as visited or read.

As mentioned - after reading all threads in a (sub)forum, I generally just click "mark forum read". That's still more work than just refreshing.

It is the only way I have found, I am getting used to doing it but would rather not have to.

Yesterday at one point in time, ALL the forums were "read" by me. Yet today, in many of them, I got (old) posts that were again unread... some which were definitely read (because, for example, I was the last poster in there) and some others that I read days ago... again, not all of them were now unread, just a couple. Strange.

I thought I was imagining things but yes, loads of posts that had been marked read yesterday were showing as having new posts today and, like you, I twigged it when I went to a thread I am involved in and read again what I had seen last night.
