title sais it all.
secondly how do i find out what the running voltage of my dvd burning diode is. and how do i know if it will burn do most of them burn.

Do you know what model it is? Then you can just google it.
Most drives today do like 16x-24x.

i had a look at another spare and it sais 56x?
would the standard 16x-24x burn?

No dvd drive is 56x, only cd drives can be this high.
As for the 16x-24x Yes, it will burn. Any 16x or higher dvd drives will have LOC or LCC diodes and those diodes can burn.
