Hello fine people of the laser pointer forum! What a great website to learn about lasers. I have built my own website just a few days ago as well and while it all makes sense to me because i built and wrote the directions, I want to know how others see them and if they are understandable. I know that you cant self promote on here so the link is in my profile if you would please check it out and give me some help!

Welcome volumetric

Make sure you utilize the search bar at the bottom of the page and buy safety goggles if using any lasers >5mW.

Stay safe and enjoy your time here

Thanks a bunch! I am actually building a very high power CO2 laser and just setup the capacitor bank for it today. This laser will be able to ionize air from focusing the laser beam to a point and is pretty cheap

So you are starting your own laser forum? I get why you would come here as there are many members here and that is what you need. But, between here and PhotoLexicon, I don't see a need for a new laser website chat room. Welcome to the LPF.

Cap bank for a C02 ? I know you need a cap bank for a flash lamp pumped YAG, but a C02 tube laser only needs a high voltage at a low current, are you exciting the gain medium with RF ? Isn't that less efficient ?

Or are you building a TEA laser ?

---edit---

I read that you can flash lamp pump C02, interesting, or can you pulse an electric glow discharge ? How much did your build cost ?

I looked at the webs site---is pretty much just you talking to you about yourself----is like you did a big "selfie".
Those project are all very High School "Science fair" looking.

Can't figure out why you would do that or that anyone but you and perhaps family and friends would want to see it.

Really this thread should be in the "Other" sub-forum---your web site and developing it has nothing at all to do with LPF

Please make a Welcome post in the Welcome sub-forum.

yes flash pumping is correct, the build itself cost around $200! which is insanely cheap. All it is, is a vacuum at 300 torr and CO2 : air = 1:1 the insides of the tube are a bit confusing but basically go along the lines of exciting the CO2 molecules as you already know. And the power supply was rigged to make 15kv from a 5 dollar electronic transformer, a toroidal thing and a halogen lamp lol

Encap, the website is about lasers and other laser things? the only thing not related is some other programming projects. I will make a welcome post

Halogen ? Not quartz or xenon ? Krypton I read is often used for neo doped gain mediums, why halogen for CO2 ?

For the setup i have, to get the electronic transformer working and all, its easier if not personally the easiest way to get it working. Also im just used to working with halogen lamps
