Hi, I was looking at this item at O-like. Why does it say "405nm driver, 250mW"? Can't I use this with other wavelengths, and why is that?

thanks :)

It might not be a buck driver, so you wouldn't be able to power anything under your input voltage. I would assume you could power a 445 with one, but I'm not 100% sure. I ordered a few for testing a while back but I still haven't got them.

These would be perfect for a 405/445 pen (hopefully!)

Thanks for the answer, but I still don't get why it wouldn't work for a 532/650nm laser?

Because it's a different type of DC-DC converter. 405/445 diodes want a much higher forward voltage than IR and red diodes do. 405/445, when running in a host that uses a single li-ion, or a pair of AA's, etc, will need 'boost' drivers. Meaning they RAISE the output voltage higher than the input. IR/660's will typically need 'buck' drivers. Meaning they LOWER the output voltage compared to the input. Mismatching your driver to your LD will result in three possible outcomes. A dead LD. A dead driver. Or both.
