Sightmark sells a Laser designator for rifles at 39$(AACT5R)
they say:
"The Sightmark AACT5R Red Laser Designator is an advanced supremely accurate and powerful tactical laser red dot sight with easy base x/y windage and elevation adjustment."

AFAIK they are usually used with a scope.
so I am guessing you could add a red laser (like a dilda) to a scope mount. The other L. Designators are used to guide missles etc to a target and that is not the common method of hog hunting.
Also some night vision equipment uses IR to make the target easy to view.

PS AixiZ has them IIRC in green(IIRC 30 mWs)- look at the ebay site and PM if you want me to get you one at discount and bring up the the fling. Chuck may even just lend me one for you to check out. They have calibrations on the barrel for adjustment just like a rifle scope has.

I'm guessing they are using the wrong terminology. Here is one called the Bsa Optics Laser Genetics Nd-3. In their ad they call it a Laser Designator, but it appears to be a laser with a beam expander.

Take a look at it in action. Here is a link to the video

Combining a powerful, eye safe green laser diode and a precision optical collimator, the ND3 pairs with your scope and allows you to cast a bright beam of green laser light to fully illuminate targets. The patented Rotary Optical Collimator allows for quick, one hand, full range adjustment of beam diameter and light strength with just 180 degrees of rotation. You never have to take your eyes off the target or your hand off the trigger. Rotating the collimator ring to minimum creates a bright micro beam of green laser light visible up to 3 miles. Rotating the collimator to more open settings provides plenty of illumination to light a trail at night or paint a target at up to 250 yards. The high power green laser light reflects intensely off the eyes of animals allowing quick detection.

Sounds like something I want to build!!

This one by the same company looks exactly like a 2C Maglite on steroids.

An important difference though between a 405nm laser and a uv flashlight is the usually lower wavelength of the flashlight and that they pretty much have no duty cycle of any kind.

I'm not talking UV, the Laser Genetics are 532 nanometers wavelength. Green LED's are typically 520-535nm - Wavelength, so they are clearly visible.

I just talked to Arlington Park, there are still other parks with pavilions with electricity and restrooms if you think we'll need it. The last place we used has great distant views for high power stuff, so it really wasn't an issue, and it's free.

I think we'll be getting pizza, and bring snacks/desert and drinks.

Too bad I am way too far away as well. Sounds like a lot of fun. Not to many chances to see that many lasers in one place around southern Indiana. :D

Three weeks and counting!! I hope to have my custom light finished! I've got so many other things going on, three weeks doesn't seem long enough!

Damn wish I was closer! I have a dual pair of Honda EU2000's I could let you guys use. They are quiet and make super clean power. I was able to operate my ham radio off of it, and those are sensitive.

2 weeks! I'm glad to see there will be a few new members attending! We'll have to talk about putting something even larger in the fall. Sorry I didn't have the chance to get a bigger event planned this time, just too busy with family events.

Is Pizza OK? I don't know of any good in the area, but It would be easier than grilling. The night seems to go too quick if I'm running the grill. I can wait till most of us have arrived, and have the delivery driver bring them.

I'm open to other suggestions.
