It is a felony to point a laser at an airplane because people are in it, but if that drone can see me, in my own private world, minding my own business, it's a violation.
First of all, what do you mean "it's been a while"? This is your first post.

Just to let you know that having more than one account active at any time is a bannable offense. No alt accounts.

Second, I think you're way too paranoid. Drones spying on you? I don't think so, but assuming it's true, what can they possibly steal?

Matter of fact, the majority of the drones I've ever seen where made by hobbyists for areal photography or car parking assistance or just plain old flyin' the drone around. What harm is there in that?

If he is here in the U.S. He is not way too paranoid! However I am not sure if there would be consequences from pointing a laser at a government drone or not. I would really like to see people shoot them down.

Can you please elaborate on that? It's just hard for me to believe, is all.

You are saying that government actually uses quadcopters for surveillance?

Yes they spy. And no it isn't quad-copters. They have the ability to see through concrete even. They have laser directed microphones as well. Although with GPS accuracy at 1 inch and cameras on satellites that can get down to view 1 foot or better, what's the point? There is no escaping it at this point. Welcome to the Orwellian nightmare. I would not recommend directing either a gun or a laser at any object in the sky at this point, save far away from civilization and flying crafts. I've seen video of people lasing "ufo's"... that seems really really stupid to me. I'm not sure what the "Best Case" scenario is supposed to be there. Get abducted? Realize it was a government craft? Realize it's an airplane/helicopter and get arrested? Get lased back by the Aliens? I really don't understand what these folks are going for here.

Can somebody start explaining what does this even mean? How do you know they have drones capable of seeing through concrete? Was it on "Science Channel"? Did the government say so? If so, wouldn't be logical to first install such viewing technology on helmets of firefighters, police, emergency response teams for rescuing people out of rubble etc?

I mean, it sounds brutally paranoid to me. Like, how many people does it take to reliably do "surveillance" over a person? So that works out to how many government employees per one citizen? And for what, people's **** browsing habits? It's illogical as heck. I never really considered Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare a "documentary".

BTW I'm with you about people lasing UFO's. That's just stupid. I'd give a kidney to meet an alien, but I'd give two to prevent an interplanetary war, so you know, priorities.

Yes they do. Not just quadcopters but much larger drones too. The FBI uses them nationwide now, but most of the states are getting them too, many police departments in the large cities and some county police departments. Here in Washington state even the department of transportation, now what do they need with drones? Are they going to monitor traffic conditions with them? The department of transportation even wants to have an armed drone to use for Avalanche control, we do have highways going over mountain passes here where Avalanche control is necessary, but no part of the government has any business flying armed drones inside the U.S. I have no doubt that drone would be available to provide support for law enforcement or for some nefarious purpose. The United States isn't what it used to be, we are becoming a police state and loosing our rights and freedom. People all over the world want to come here for a better life, but they don't know how it has been slowly changing since the 911 attacks when the wars started, and the war on terror for the last 14 years.

Brutishly paranoid... maybe. I personally know an individual who had security clearance for analyzing satellite photos for the military. They are more detailed than you would want to believe. I am not privy to any information about what the drones are being used for. I do know the technology exists. What it is being used for is not known to me. Do I assume it is being used inside our borders? Absolutely. As far as mounting the "camera" that can see through walls on a helmet. Not possible as of yet, the device is too large at present. I'm not asking you to start folding your own tin foil hat, but I might have a spare laying around somewhere if you want me to mail you one.

That didn't work out too well for one Kentucky Man; he was Arrested for Shooting Drone Out of the Sky:

William Merideth arrested after shooting down $1,800 drone hovering over sunbathing daughter - Washington Times

Assuming you could take out the drone with your laser, it would likely fall into the same issue as the Kentucky Man encountered. On a lessor level, if you damage the camera, you could be open for damages to the drone.

There is also a hand held device that doesn't show an image but tracks movement and distance and they are being used by police:

I'm a little confused too. What could your government gain from spying into the home of an average civilian?

Too much information that they shouldn't have. You will see, it will come to your country too. This will be a large part of future law enforcement:

If I had a pool and some pervert was spying on my spouse or kids, then I would be concerned about the drone. An IR Laser unfocused is enough to blur the camera. No harm done. Better yet video it and try to follow it back to its owner. Then you could ask to see what he is doing. I don't think the government is interested in Harry home owner unless he is already doing something suspicious. Anyway you don't want someone videoing you firing a Laser into the sky.
