Hi guys my name is Eric and I'm new to this forum and lasering, Just to start off, where could i get (or links to parts to make) a burning blue/green laser which also has a nice beam:drool:

Hello Eric,

To start off I hope you have read all of the stickies and know that safety glasses are a must when using high powered lasers.

Here is a link to a 532nm (green) module that should burn, but will be great for a beam.

It will need a host of your choice to put it in.

The proper safety glasses (eagle pair) I believe cost about $40 shipped, but they will last you for many different lasers.

Hey there, Eric! Welcome to LPF. :wave:

You didn't give much in the way of experience / credentials with lasers, so in case you're not totally sure HOW to build a laser after you've ordered parts, I always recommend Styropyro's videos. He's a member of this forum, and very popular on youtube for his laser videos. Check out the video I'm referring to, here --- DIY: Burning Blue Laser Pen!! Now. Assuming you DO know how to construct a laser once you've got the parts, you'd be better off starting with a blue laser build, as greens are a lot harder to make for the average "Do it Yourself-er". And, they're also more expensive mW to mW. A 300mW green laser can cost upwards of $150, while a 1000mW blue laser can be upwards of $100.

So, to sum it up.

Green Lasers -
Cons: Harder to build, less output power for burning, more expensive.
Pros: More visible than a blue, mW to mW.

Blue Lasers -
Cons: Less visible than green lasers.
Pros: Cheaper, easier to build, incredible for burning things.

Visibility Difference -
300mW Green = 1500mW - 2000mW Blue

Now, a note to all of the LPF Vets reading, I don't want to argue over "visibility varies by the person", I'm just giving him a basic idea of what it is, color to color, mW to mW.


Hopefully I helped a little, as you did say you were "new to lasering", and this is good information to know from the start. :beer:​

Thanks to everyone, you're v helpful. I have seen styropyro's vid and id really like to make that! where could i get the parts for it(links please:yh:)? And where could i get as low a price as possible but still good glasses for blue and green lasers?

Also, get goggles at survivallaser (eagle pair 190nm-540nm) will cover blue and green.
