at 7:30 am this morning i had cops knocking on my front door. because someone ( my next door neighbour who is trying to get me into shit cause he has been told off for smoking inside but thats another story) dobed me in. they did not find my 1.3W 445 but they did find some <5mw keychain reds that i bought at a $2 shop. they have since confiscated them and wil lpm them. and if they are over 1mw i get to goto court and explain why i had them. now as they were purchased in australia they should be fine. but this post is just to show what happens here in australia

thanks. yeah i know its harsh. they went through all my stuff. but lucky i know how to hide things in plain sight. he picked up the laser and sai whats this. i had removed the tailcap and the lens by then. so i told him it was a led torch i was making. he put it down and kept on searching. i know im probably gonna get flak for this but im wondering what a suitable form of detering the guy who reported me could be...
a flaming bag of dog shit on his doorstep maybe?

Be prepared for them to be over 1mW. For $2 are they really going to LPM every keychain laser? Are there large fines for sellers of over 1mW or do they just confiscate?

Do they have the right to just come in & search as they please from a complaint??! Do they use some loop hole for this or did you just allow it? Perhaps they can compel you to allow it.

If our current administration has its way we are not far behind.

First will be firearms just like you guys, then all our other freedoms as well.

What a shame

Wow they can just come and search your home because someone says you had a laser?

You could shoot your laser at him :p (don't)

Why did you let them in? Surely the laws in Australia are not so absurd that the police can wander into your room and go through all your stuff because your neighbour claims you own lasers.

EDIT: Beat me to it ^

Maybe they got a search warrant or something but if they did based on a single call from one person with no proof that's pretty nuts.

Like everyone else said, I would of just told them to go F*** off. They cant go in without a search warrant. And they have to have evidence. One person is not enough evidence.

I mean we know it can be easier to just allow them to search if you know they won't find anything but it had not to resist exercising your right to say no.
