I returned to the task with a smaller piece and it turned out great. The initial bubbles work themselves out and everything ends up drying clear and shiny. The white vinegar soak does the trick. The electrical cleaner does a good rinse and dries clean. Clean disposable gloves are a must.

Excellent, sorry about your first attempt but if it end, well all is good. :gj: Couple of questions, did you tape off the threads and plug the holes or did you coat everthing? Thanks again for the update. :)

I plugged the front module hole with an empty module. After that was done and drying I used the empty module and a dud lens to do the focus adapter. The set screw hole didn't need to be covered in sure some got in there but caused no issues. I might send the ugly heatsink and focus ring back to Rich to revive once the replacement arrives. The replacement will have an aluminum outer copper inner deal.

Hi D,
Started on it today should be done tomorrow for Monday delivery. Hey send me the the copper i'l clean it up nice and fresh... can't be that bad.

Understand, I'm looking at doing a Sanwu copper and two copper Ehgemus hosts. Sure your going to post some pics when you finish, looking forward to them. :)

The copper guardian would benefit from this if done right. That's a lot of groves to try to polish. Maybe it comes apart so you can soak the shell in the vinegar.

In case you didn't know, you can remover tarnish from copper with white vinegar or dilute acetic acid. It is better to spray them with clear acrylic after polishing so it won't tarnish again.

@dden, thanks for posting the pics, that's some shinney copper you got there. Think that would look real sharp on the three copper hosts I have. Yes all of them have ridges and groves so they would have to be soaked/cleaned real good pryor to coating, but the benefit would be substantial. That sink looks really sharp bring out the luster of the copper. Crystal Clear, well, got me another project .:)

I would hate for you to blemish those hosts. I would suggest the standard jewelers cloth initially so the vinegar soak can be shorter. No telling what other metals are in the copper especially the China stuff. 15 minutes observations to watch or leeching. Do a Google search for cleaning copper with white vinegar. I did a search for copper in white vinegar for too long. Learned some things.

Thanks for your advise dden, I'll do some research on my own first. Their just sitting under lock and key, but just sitting causes them to tarnish so if I could come up with a way to prevent it it would save me have to polish them.( basically a lazy person) haaa, Besides all shinney works for me. :D Thanks again, talk to you again, :)

Incralac is a spray on lacquer. It may say for copper, but lacquer is lacquer, and this brand is expensive. I think it's matter of what works best for you. Lacquer, acrylic or varnish.
