May be beyond your current knowledge, but I have heard of a hologram being made with a cheap red diode laser...

You can use a little aluminum paper, shrivel it a bit, then flatten it and stick it in front a speaker with a little tape. Switch on the music and off the lights, and point your little laser to the aluminum paper. That's the poor man laser show... or at last the fastest one you can do using music.
