Concept design for the best looking beam dump of the world:

Specification: The shield has a ring of painted copper circle in the backside, in the center a stock of 400 blades aligned at 180 degrees, the end of the blades is soldered with thermal epoxy to the copper circle, while anodized aluminium is all over the blades:

Laser thermal energy absorbed by 100%, diffuse light emission rejeced through blades by approx 1%

Suitable for max 10W beam.

Ready for end of february.

Will report more tech details and a review, when the unit is ready for test.

400 blades held in with epoxy?!
boy that will suck getting hit in the face with.

Just like peter griffin and his shaving machine made out of razor blades glued to a desk fan.

the blades are blocked with the thermal epoxy INSIDE AN ALUMINIUM box, nothing will fall down.

And just for info, also laser diode are soldered to aluminium cylinders with thermal epoxy.

It suits well for this kind of applications.

Anyway, the stock of razor blades is one of most efficient method of beam dump as long as the beam is reflected infinitely to the next blade.

Who's going to be the one constructing that? Its going to take a long time and also going to be a little dangerous to make

How far apart are the blades going to be?

It would turn out a great beam-dump if it weren't for that gay figure holding it.

the blades take 2 centimeters over the shield

i will post a review when the prototype is ready

first of all we'll have to test what kind of continuous watt emission the shield can stand and dissipate before the heat reach the arm of the action figure, to make its specifications reliable.

In a case of laser above 10W, could entually be possible to use temporary, the shield alone, without the action figure.
