Default Color changing laser?

Okay, I saw this laser: well an arragment of 3 laser that form what I guess is called a seven color laser. I can't seem to find a simple explanation on how they work. I orginnaly thought that it was an arragment of red, green, and blue lasers that where joined by 2 beam splitters( I think that's they are called) and then the power of each laser was changed to create different colors, but after seeing a picture of one I'm not donates it's that simple......can somebody give me a simple explanation.....I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but this is the only place I think I can get an answer.

Sounds like you saw a white fusion or PHR-803t sled type of setup. http://laserpointerforums.com/f51/tu...tfx-41942.html
Uses 1 Polarized Beam Splitter (PCB) & 1 turning mirror.
Another way is using dichros which reflect a certain color/wavelength while allowing other colors to pass.
For 7 colors you just switch different combos of red,green,blue on or off.
Red/green=yellow, red/blue=purple or magenta, blue/green=turquoise, red/green/blue=white, +red +green +blue == 7 colors.
You can get full color (not just 7 color) using a driver that can vary the RGB powers. http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs...tml#post717494

RGB is simply awesome. The alignment is difficult tho. RGB=RedGreenBlue. Also called RGV (violet)

(not my picture btw)

Welcome by the way!

What is a turning mirror? Oh and is there a simple diagram of the setup?

Actually the turning mirror in a PHR-803t should be a dichroic mirror.
I don't know of any simple diagrams besides the pictures in Jayrob's thread.
Perhaps its clearer with a little edit. Do note its RedGreenViolet in this picture.

Violet & red combine in the polarized beam splitter cube (magenta), green & magenta combine via the dichroic (turning) mirror resulting in white.

Is that the part of the setup your asking about? The rest of it is just to hold the lasers & help align the beams.
