Yep this unit is just like my 3W (which they don't make anymore) i've actually never had to run mine long enough that it never got hot but I presume that it is supposed to be 100% duty cycle (assuming it's in a cool ambient temp room) Although still bolting it to a heat sink probably would be a good idea for long term runs. I've never taken mine apart, but judging by the electronics it has two current controls so I think it actually has two diodes like my adlas. No sense in taking apart a working laser though. These are nicer than a lot of other lasers because they generally have a TEM00 beam, not multimode, so they burn better. If I focus mine down to a fine spot I can engrave aluminum with it. It's a beast. I had to use a steel cylinder as a beam stop!

Thanks for checking it out Matt! After using this thing for so long I turned on my Aries and 20mW's of 532 just isn't the same after 2.5W's of 532

Nope. Did you get analog or TTL modulation? Mine is analog.

And be careful with that thing it's a beast!

Analog, it's the PSU-H-OEM power supply

I have a JET 10X expander that you could use with it, I paid 100 plus expedited shipping but if you want it for 60 dollars I'm not using it, you would likely need to make an adaptor, or you could simply hold a household magnifying glass in front of your intended targets, of course safety glasses are very needed when holding a lens in front of the beam as I know you are aware, but that would make a big difference while burning.

It is a very good looking beam, looking back at the source it is a beautiful emerald rod that looks laser straight.....I know, but that's what a laser should look like.

Maybe some dark room pics with a little fog to see how well it lights up the walls from fog scattered photons, I bet it's impressive in the dark, although the room wont be dark, it will be glowing green.
