I really, really do hope that those lasers won't ever be available for less than 100$. There are way too many idiots with cheap 301 lasers already. We can't afford having them carry >500mW lasers which they'll treat at if it were <5mW. I wouldn't be surprised if lasers would be classified as weapons in the near future either.

The high power DPSS handhelds tend to have thicker beams than the 30mW pens.
(but I do hope I'm wrong)

Those 60w globes don't put out enough light for my liking.

I've got philips 14w (100w equiv) around my home in 3000 and 6500k depending on location. Floodlights are 20w LEDs in 5000k. Bloody good investment. When I see something that can match these, then I'll look into it more :)

These are 2700K, there is another version that's 5000 or 6000 but these look a lot like a normal 60w bulb, 100w equivalents are also available. In my basement I use a 1 to 2 tap and double them up, they make plenty of light.

The point is this is just the start of what's to come, even our city busses that I see every day on the roads I drive are using led headlights and tail lights now, and the headlights are dam bright, you can see they are several diodes behind lenses.

Speaking of LED headlights, my Prius plug-in advanced modelhas them and they are clearer and brighter than any vehicle I've ever owned or ridden in. My understanding is that the new.2016 prius that was just unveiled last night is supposed to have them as standard equipment.

Counterfeit batteries are biiig buisness in china and india. Been going on for a very long time and will continue to do so as long as people don't understand the value of batteries. I have a good chuckle when people bitch and moan about their cheap portable USB battery packs. I'm not sure what is worse in those, the ridiculous batteries or the nasty electronics that are putting out noisy waveforms.

Ahh yep, I get your point now. Those globes are damn cheap and doubling them up would put out plenty of light. What fittings do you use over there? Here it is bayonet cap or edison screw for that type of globe.

Here in Aus, LED house lighting is luxury mainstream thanks to our major hardware store chains Bunnings and Masters and the prices are not cheap at all. A 9W Osram LED globe will cost you ~$11 each. That said, I just noticed on the Masters website that a "Orbit Lighting"? 10W LED will cost you $5ea. Comparing that to your globes.. FFS.

Its even worse in the automotive area. Automotive LED headlights either do not exist or are ridiculously overpriced. I've replaced all of my car interior lighting with DIY LEDs with stuff I had spare. To buy something inferior in a retail store would have been around $20-30 each, I shit you not.

Even fluro lighting is expensive. They still sell POS 4' T8 magnetic fittings for $30 each. Ask someone about electronic ballasts and they'll look at you funny. When I rewired my magnetic ballasts to electronic, it cost me $11 per dual tube fixture, saved myself heaps.

I eventually took that a step further and now use 5000k T5 tubes in my workshop after I modified my electronic t8 fixtures to fit t5 tubes as I refused to pay $70 a fixture. Modification cost me nothing but time. The light output of these is fantastic, perfect for a work environment. These are the globes I use: http://download.p4c.philips.com/l4b/9/927926585055_eu/927926585055_eu_pss_aenaa.pdf
