Due to the new laws in australia if the cops cach me with a high powered laser i get in a lot of trouble. But if i make an ir laser and it has a just visible red dot i could still have a burning laser but it will apear to have a small out put. Do CD burner diodes have a slightly visible dot when colimated or not.

They put out a deep reddish color. It is easy to see indoors, it looks like a cheap laser pointer.

truth^

this would probably be your best bet to avoid being busted by cops but you're going to need some safety goggles if you plan on working with invisible (mostly) lasers

Just so you know, you aren't going to get too much power from one of those, maybe around 60mW-80mW.

They are visble enough to allow you to focus, burn stuff, light matches all that sort of thing.

thanks guyes are there any good brands for geting powerful ir diodes out of and also where can i get some laser gogles that will block out ir.
