I HAVE A DVD BURNER, IVE RIPPED IT APART AN SALVAGED TWO DIODES. THE RED ON (WHICH IS GOING INTO BUILDING MY RED BURNING LASER)

BUT THE I.R ONE I WANT TO USE,

I HEARD RUMOURS THAT IF I TAKE MY LOW POWERED GREEN LASER APART,- TAKE OUT THE DIODE, AND PUT MY DVD I.R. DIODE INTO IT, IT WILL GIVE ME ALOT MORE POWER,

IS THIS TRUE ?

CAN I USE THE DVD I.R. DIODE IN A GREEN LASER?

Probably not true. If you are talking about a small pointer type green, it is probably already being pumped as hard as it can be. If you want more power, buy or build a better laser.

Peace,
dave

P.S. and just type. The colors, size, and formatting is annoying, not "creative."

Re: CAN I USE A DVD IR DIODE AS A REPLACEMENT FOR

Your DVD IR diodes are about 790nm, meaning they cannot be used to pump green DPSS crystals which need 808nm to pump them. So those IR diodes will not work.

Re: CAN I USE A DVD IR DIODE AS A REPLACEMENT FOR

i don't think there are any household type consumer items that have 808nm diodes in them, trying the 780nm diode just isn't gonna work (the wavelength has to be within like 2-3 nm at the very least)
