Hi, I've been looking to get the best deal/best laser/best package I can find for a 1W blue laser. After getting scared away from wickedlasers.com and awesomelasers.com and not readily finding this forum or any other seemingly reputable companies/youtube accessible reviews, I purchased a 1W blue from dragonlasers.com.

Apparently, it comes with no batteries, no carrying case, no beam focusing options, no waterproof host, and no safety glasses for $275 out-the-door, with an uncertain delivery period.

Today, I found a site called texaslasersystems.com, and their out-the-door price for a 1W laser is $265, and it comes with batteries, a charger, a box, safety glasses, and focusing options with a 7-10 day guaranteed delivery. One model is even waterproof.

Did I make the right purchase with dragonlasers? Is texaslasersystems a better deal, and do they have a better laser? I couldn't find ANY reviews or anything about them.

Thanks,

Dave

To my understanding, dragon lasers is a redistributor of CNI lasers, a laser company we only wish the United Stated could have. They are located in china ( I believe ) and are renowned for great products.

DL is a reputable company with good support.

Don't really know much about texaslasersystems.com, but so far there are no good news, which to me means bad news: http://laserpointerforums.com/f41/how-about-texas-laser-systems-63267.html

Your best bet would be to take a look at the Buy/Sell/Trade section of the forum and purchase a laser from a trusted member there. For example, yobresal, garoq, weidmark, there are usually at least a few 1W+ lasers up for sale, they are typically of a much higher quality too.

Also FYI, instead of posting the same question again, in the future you might want to just bump your own post, although 1 day is not really a long time to wait for a response.

Ya i was getting impatient so i figured posting it twice was a good idea. guess not lol.

Well I went ahead and bought the dragon lasers one, and I hope it doesn't take six weeks like some members here say, the website says it gets delivered in 7-10 days.

I'm kind of kicking myself now because I just discovered member "wannaburn" and he's selling some badass looking 1.1w, 445nm 200mw lasers, that are obviously top quality, and I'll bet canada ships a lot faster than china. I wish I could just refund my dragonlasers purchase and buy Wannaburn's laser! But seeing as its already shipped (supposedly) i guess its too late for that. I just want my damn badass blue light saber in time for 4th of july!

Did you get goggles for yourself as well as people you're going to be showing it to?

It's not a toy lightsaber, you WILL damage your, and other people's eyes if you're not careful with it. Even specular reflections are dangerous at this power level.

@lasercynic I'm curious, do you have any other lasers or will this be your first?

To answer the preceding questions:

1. This is not my first laser, but it will be my first high powered laser

2. I wouldn't drop nearly $300 bucks on this thing without doing my research, and as a consequence have discovered that, yes, they can be quite dangerous if handled improperly. Fortunately I am not a teenager eager to point it at dogs, people and airplanes, or stare down into the thing. Learning that even its reflection against a wall can damage vision was an eye opener, though.

3. Yes I purchased the corresponding safety glasses, but I hardly think that I or anyone I intend to show it to need to wear them when shining it into the night sky. However, I may be wrong on this, and if so I am sure someone here will edify me.

4. yes, it is most definitely a big-boy light saber :)

I'd definitely buy from wannaburn... he gives great after sale
service and has a very good guarantee..

You can always sell your Dragonlaser later and trade up...;)
