Camera capable of viewing 808nm laser beams? Any I can easily mod?

I'm looking to purchase an inexpensive digital camera and use it for night beam shots of a 808nm IR laser by removing its IR filter. I've done some googling on this today and not finding an easy to do mod, does anyone here know of a easy to modify camera for such use?

Try using a cell phone camera just like it is.

I can see the spot with my cell phone, just not the beam itself.

I am Looking for the same thing too, but for a slightly different purpose. I did find some videos awhile back on YouTube but I am not sure what to do, also the cheap cameras have really small screens, I don't need a high quality camera but I don't want too small of a screen, I also can't spend much.

There is a seller on ebay listing a Kodak M1033 HD which has been modified for IR which might work, but I don't want to pay as much as he wants for it. Although, I might just buy a used one and modify it myself, since I know it can be done to this camera, just have to open it up and find the way to remove that filter from the CCD.

808nm has much lower scattering than regular visible light so you're going to need a lot of power. Just as a reference, it scatters only about 40% as much as 650nm (which already sucks beam-wise).

I would use something like these or build your own with simulated hd tv goggles and a 3-5 megapixel cam.

These will let you focus your IR beam and protect your eyes because you are looking at lcd's no IR can hit your eyes.

I would use camera goggles to work with 808 but if you want to mod your cam here's a video.

I've used a Lumix camera before to photograph NIR (980 nm) and UV (375 nm), since the filters they use are not very good at blocking out anything near visible light.

And I honestly I was very surprised at how easy it was to remove the IR filter. I played around with it for regular night shots with a 1W 808nm and it works very well, the beam stands out easily when it's focused. If you want I can take a few pics for you under different lighting if that will help you decide what you want to buy.

My plans are to go hunting with an adapter I printed to convert my scope to digital NV. It works as long as I'm illuminating the area with my 1W 808nm laser.

I happen to have a camcorder with Nightvision option

It's quite weird to see nothing, and then pop on the nightvision and see the beam...

It also shows how dangerous they are..
This is a Skylaser 808nm that whoops out a scarry >5W with a 2×18650 configuration (extention tube)
Without it, it uses 2×16340 (out of my head) and only ? ^^ outputs 3W with that battery configuration as seen in the pic.

Unfocus the beam, and you have yourself a nice (long distance) illuminator.
A camcorder with good zoom lens is a nice extra..

A photo camera with Nightvision ¿
No idea if that's availible....

I took this picture aswell with NV off ofcourse, and the camera picks it up as a purple collor. (fog used)
Not sure if it's a sensor type of thing that makes them look like this on some electronic devices.. (it was a Sony)
seeing it for yourself (you don't see nothing at all)
So looking true a camera when making these kind of picture's is a must, as you won't be able to see it otherwise.
