Does anyone have any advise re bringing lasers back from China in your luggage?

I am off to China tomorrow for 2 weeks business and factory tours, I am hoping to pick up some laser parts if I find anything.

You live in OZ. Good luck. I'd part them out and send them back in multiple boxes.

i brang 4 green lasers and a star rojector back from hong kong remember :D
i just seperated the tailcaps from the rest of the thing,
laser in with toothbrushes, tailcap in wallet, no batteries and the rest of parts spread out through out the whole bag
:D
i made it through aussie customs, although i was SOO nervous. the only thing they cared about was the straw hat i bought for 0.01 so i gladly let them have it and ran

i brang 4 green lasers ......

:eek:Oooh, I am sorry, I not a member of the grammar police, but after spending part of my childhood in Southern Louisiana, the term "brang" has become a bit of a pet peeve. The past tense of "bring" is "brought". I mean no offense to you, but it is like nails down a chalkboard for me. :yabbem:

It may be difficult for you to find lasers in china, for they are not so popular as they are in US or AU. If you want to find some ones, you'd better go to local professional E-Marketplaces.
BTW, where to go? Guangdong or HK?

I guess you must be a professor in the field of light and sound, so it will be easy for you to find as many lasers as you want.

If I was going to China I'd have some knock off Armani suits made. They have professional tailors who use the real Italian material. You can get a $4000 suit made for under $400.

I'd put them in the bag you don't get up to the plane with, all of them with batteries etc etc.

It's what I do when I have to carry all of my lasers to other sites in plane.

I have just spent 2 days at the Shanghai show. The Pangolin, Viasho, Spark Laser and CNI stands where interesting, offering some nice products. Viasho have some really nice lab lasers up to 50W water cooled. I have the contacts now to get all the stuff I need.

Just about all other laser vendors are "toys" and cheap stepper scanners.
