i could do the same if you want ,i have a few sunglasses i use for my blurays if i temporarily shine through them a 120 mw is less than 2 mw

On second thought the shipping back and forth would cost more than the glasses LOL.
Someone who has a LPM needs to go to Wal-Mart and buy a few pairs of these. There are a few styles but all are under $5. And you could just return the ones that don't hold up to get your money back.
If you can find a pair that reduces it down to <2mW I would think it would worth a sticky. No?

In my opinion it is irresponsible at best to condone the use of sunglasses as eye protection. Its fine if you trust it for yourself, but suggesting the use of sunglasses as eye protection for new members just seems wrong to me.
What happens if someone runs into a manufacturing defect, different brands, picks up the wrong style? There are so many what-ifs here especially for something with real consequences.

I'm just trying to see if Igor's recommendation has merit, plus save some money. Obviously its an "at your own risk" situation. But I'd rather see new users using some protection than none. There are loads of threads telling people to use proper eyewear. This thread, if nothing else, confirms the need of proper eyewear, but also could give an option to people who don't have money or sense to get proper eyewear. In an ideal world the smart thing to do is buy the proper eyewear, but we all know we don't live in an ideal world.691175002 said:

lol dude i don't care if you'r disabled, an alien or the president of the united states. when i said i am willing to pay amount XY for a lens you started the flaming. now you tell us that you are too petty (your words) to pay 25$ for some real goggles. being disabled you should know better than anyone else how it is to live with a handicap, if you still do not appreciate your eyesight then please, for the love of god look into all your lasers until you are blind. at least we could have our peace then.
the fun part with your argument is that i have a life, and this partly being the reason why i can't (don't want to) spend all my money on laser stuff. good thing it's payday on monday, the third skitrip this season is coming up. let's hope the winter will stay a little longer, maybe i can squeeze in another trip for season closing... then all i need to do is convince my girlfriend to come with me, she's not that enthusiastic of skiing as i am... too bad, but hey, i have life+job+gf+some lasers, what do i need more?

hey Tech send me a pair of the shades i'll check them on my two meters at 100-130 mw ans see what goes through i'll pay shipping back to you no problem

I'm going to see how my Oakley sunglasses work once I get my bluray in. It is a brand I trust their specs on as they are who makes the sunglasses for the US military as well. The specs for them show
Meets ANSI Z80.3 for impact requirements
Meets ANSI Z87.1 for optical requirements
blocks 100% UVA, UVB, UVC and harmful blue light
I'd not suggest buying a pair of Oakley sunglasses just for bluray lasers for sure though - these sunglasses cost nealry $200....
EDIT : I did just find on another specs page on their site for their industrial sunglasses.... "and harmful blue light up to 400nm" so maybe sunglasses are not safe after all. I'd think top of the line Oakley ones would potentially be the standard to jude other sunglasses by but maybe not. Maybe some of the cheapos do block more into the low 400 range.
