Well,

I've been spending awhile and thinking about this and decided I figure going back to collecting pointers would be best, not only for my money but for my sanity. I've been thinking and realized the butt load of money I've been dishing out for labbies when all I really use them for is seeing the dot, which dosent make much sense, right?

Plus, portability is something I miss a lot, same with ease of use!

I'll be sending my 447nm back to DL and getting a refund and should be putting the 655 and 532 labbies up for sale pretty soon, for relatively good prices. Sure, I may not be able to collect as many wavelengths as possible, but me with my OCD and being careful with my funds would rather have peace of mind. :)

Edit: I have some SL glasses I'll need to get rid of.

Thank you for showing me the world of labbies my 447,532,655 friends. You've been great :)

gonna miss ya labbies.

Yeah, possibly, actually there's a good chance! What really kills it for me is the lack of portability and set-up times. With pointers you just pop in a couple batteries and boom, your done. Plus, their prices are much more affordable :)

Thank you for the help FUBeaches :)

alex please look up projectors... most fun ive had is with my crappy RGV projector with a dmx controller(until quickshow is affordable) and a fog machine!!!! pointers you end up just looking at the beam or dot as well. mine as well be controlled by a 20-40K scanner

Thanks fenny, never really had a thing for projectors though haha. I like to just shine my lasers and look at the dot, so pointers are a better deal then expensive labbies.

I appreciate the tip though :)

Why not have both labbies and pointers? You should be more satisfied with both than with just one or the other.

i keep meaning to start a projector project myself, but i agree.

much more enjoyment out of a Laser bouncing of spinning mirrors or mirrors glued to musical HDD's then the 5 seconds i spend admiring the bright dot and line.

I could.... ugh, not im debating whether or not to sell these guys.... I was going to spend $300 to get each labby a proper case so I can take them with me wherever I go instead of leaving them in a plastic box.

I like my lasers to be all the same, Im strange like that haha. Should I keep collecting labbies? It's going to be expensive but ohhh :s

Edit: I shouldn't need to keep buying aluminum plates to put the lasers over no? They should be fine as is(although it is recommended).

I like pens because of its compactness.

I like lab lasers only when they can produce an output a handheld/pointer cannot produce.

For example, 4W of 532nm. How the h* would you get that crazy on an handheld, or even portable laser such as Laserglow Hercules or Jetlasers PLE-Pro.

Forgot one thing, get a portable power storage/supply and set it onto a cart. Also place your lab laser in the cart, connected to your portable battery supply, then lastly optional, add a solar panel onto the top as well as connect it to your power supply to auto-charge in sunlight. Imagine 5 labbies with 4W 532 each. 20W of 532nm with knife-edging optics and that will make you a mini- laser cannon :D. Optional 20x beam expander lol.

Thanks,

Haha, very true Jersagfast!

Actually, if I were to buy those $79 lab cases I would feel a lot better about carrying them with me, as they would be better protected.

Hm....

You mean those suitcase-like cases? If so, modifiy it with a battery pack and a charging port and your set to go
(Depends on your lab laser power consumption and heatsinking)
