Australia has BANNED lasers

hey guys, just some info for you guys

I just rung up my local police station about laser pointers because theres nothing on the government sites about owning lasers. They told me that it IS illegal and you can be fined IF caught in possession of a laser pointer OVER 1mW!

Ok, you all got that, so, if lasers are classed as a weapon due to the fact that lasers are pointed at planes here. Why was i able to buy a 5mW green wicked laser "core" from the US and still manages to get to my door by going through customs? I bought my laser only 2 months ago. Does anyone else have there thoughts on this?

The ban has been in place for quite a while now actually. And yes, we have known about it since it started.

The reason you got the laser was because WL imported it illegally, by stating that the package is a low value to reduce the risk of it being checked, and saying that it's something like a "light pen". You probably wouldn't be able to order another one though, the customs control got a little tighter a while ago. Now that I think about it, you were really lucky that it somehow slipped through customs. You can still buy labbies though.  

its not that hard to get illegal stuff through customs like lasers. they are simply not going to check EVERY box that goes through them.
