Just thought i'd update. Its been about 2.5-3mos and still no laser. I received an email saying it will ship out oct 10, so we'll see what happens. This is very disappointing to me, as wicked is one of the top laser sites out there, and this whole arctic product is giving them bad ratings from alot of customers. i just hope the wait is worth the laser.
I got the G2 with all the safety "stuff." Of you who got the arctic, how is it? Is it relative to 1W?

Wicked WAS one of the top laser sites out there. The arctic's people have been receiving have been between 700-1100mw.

I odered in mid June, and finally cancelled my order around early september, and frankly am glad I did at this point.

It's still the same old story with delivery dates, once again the promissed shipping dates have come and gone without being met, shipping still appears to be totally random.

I figured with all the problems they were having I had better get my money back while they were still willing and get out while they still had the money to refund me. Starting to look like a good move at this point.

I was just reading on their forums today and come to find out that now when people request a refund they are instead getting a notice that they cannot get a refund because their order has shipped. Though this does seem to be a nice way to force them to ship your order now at least :).

However, on top of all the quality control issues, they are now being regularly seized by customs (at least in the US). So far WL hasn't addressed the customs issues yet, they have a gurantee, but with the thousands of orders going out now I simply don't see them being able to meet their gurantee when mass loads of orders are being confiscated.

We'll have to wait and see what happens, but it just keeps getting worse and worse with WL.

For those following their "New" 200mw laser in red/green/blue... ya they've been shipping out 50mw lasers to fill those orders so far lol. Althoul claims on the forums that they will ship the proper 200mw lasers if you submit a claim but once again we're talking about customer service and so far it has not been corrected that I am aware of.

Anyways, my experiences with wicked lasers was less than satisfactory, and I will never do business with them again. Their current situation just continues to reinforce that as a good decision on my part.

Wow I'm sorry to hear that people who ordered back in June still have not recieved their Arctic(s) yet, that is just inexcusable. I wonder if you contact the actual vendor that is producing them for WL, would they be able to help??

If it makes you feel any better, I got mine but all of the threads are CRAP. The inner lens protector isn't that big of an issue, but the tail cap barely catches enough to function, it probably won't for long. Also the module / heatsink spins inside the host when I tried to go ahead and remove the stripped out inner lens protector, so its stuck on there crooked. $200 POS. I Keep on submitting tickets about it. They delete them without saying anything to me.

Have there been confirmed seizures?

EDIT: Nevermind, quick search yielded the LC thread.

Thats not entirely true. Wicked has been well known for under spec, over price lasers for quite a while. Last year they started cleaning up their act, but since this Arctic fiasco they threw away any hope at recovering.

But I still hope to get the $300 Spyder S3 532nm with a random variable output between 600-1000mW. I didn´t have the communication problems with WL like others mentioned, but maybe cause I never wrote "where is my Arctic" or something similar into the subject line. More like "Hi Steve" or "What´s up Lou"...

I think it´s ok to share a transcript with Lou from Wickedlasers I had some days ago. I wanna say as contrasted with Steve, Lou always was a man of his word.

I know you´re still in hurry according the Arctic issue. Maybe you can help me with an other laser, how many mW is the S3 532nm outputting? And when you would be able to ship it?

Lou from Wickedlasers
The tentative schedule for the S3 532nm at the moment is Nov. 10.

With the new line-up, there will be no more multiple classifications basedon power output. With the S3, a customer has a chance of receiving a laser that has an output power anywhere within the 500mW to 1W range.
The guaranteed minimum power a customer will receive is 500mW and the maximum output power being anything from 600mW to 1W.

DJNY
So you say that the S3 532nm with an output power between 600-1000mW is going to be available in November for $299.95? Are they going to be multimode direct driven diodes or are the new S3 are going to have the same specs as your old listed 500mW green Spyder?

Lou
The S3 532nm will have the same specs as the old 500mW listed on the site.

Sounds promising. Jack from Opto said he doesn't see any cheap green diode lasers coming out any time to soon.

Hey, just wanted to update. I placed my order on June 14th, and 492xx, and it just cleared customs in JFK. I have asked for updates a couple times, but I haven't asked for special treatment. It looks to me like they can really put out about 100-200 a week, tops.

But, it really does look like they are trying to fill orders. It's just a matter of how patient can you be.

Who would buy an RPL knowing that he should only wait a few months for greens near double the power and quater the RPL price :cryyy:
