ahhh im screwed... "blu-ray burnout"

thats right..although it had a good run; my diode burned out from daguin's blu-ray build. The only strange part is how it burnt out. My friend loaded the batteries in backwards and tried to turn it on. Then turned them back around and it started flickering until it finally died off. Now im in the search for a new diode. The only thing im kind of pissed about is the fact that it burned out during a school project that im doing with them..and i kind of realllly needed that one.

If it burned out after the batteries were placed in backwards, it may be the driver that is burned out (or maybe both the driver and the diode).  The "blinking" is more indicative of a driver problem. Diodes rarely turn on and off on their own. The only way to tell for sure is to disassemble the unit and test the driver.  The unit must be disassembled to replace the diode anyway, so this test of it isn't really increased labor.   It just may end up a bit more cost to repair.
