Once again.

Those 3 levels of lasers I posted in your other thread fits here, and whatever else you can come up with.

Please listen to people tell you.

Always the newer members with the same ol' questions time and time again.
Besides having this sort of information here at LPF in so many threads that I won't even begin to tell you where to look...
Amazon sold goods are poorly constructed, poorly regulated, and qualify as gambling as far as specs are concerned.
Your 5mw 532nm green could be just over 5mw or up to 60+mw.
Then the question of how well filtered your DPSS green is. How much of the output is invisible IR. This can greatly affect the output measurements.
Of course you need to ask how long the device might operate at acceptable or even tolerable levels as well.
It all becomes somewhat of a crap shoot. Having said that I will admit to having considered a few cheap "5mw" items myself just the last few days.
Overall the unit will almost certainly be more than the advertised 5mw.
How safe it is will be up to you !

That's fairly expensive for a 5mW 532nm laser... However, amazon.com sellers do have lasers with over 5mW even though they are labeled 5mW. I think there was another thread about a package of 3 lasers, one 650nm one 532nm one 405nm and they were all overspec. I would also worry about the IR output of cheap greens though...

Edit: aw TJ posted before me lol

I bought a 5mW 405nm laser but it was labeled 50mW and fairly bright lol

This is exactly what got me started. I wanted a green for a gun mount sight. Saw them on tv, very bright out doors in sun light. (at the time I knew virtually nothing about power ratings)
The one I got was rated 5mw. OK indoors or at night for a sight but pretty much useless in daylight.
It is obvious the ones I saw were much higher power. The "military" and "high power" are BS advertising buzz words.
The military does use lasers but I have been unable to find out exactly what they use.

military uses mostly red lasers, and inferred lasers that can only be seen by night vision ...green gives away the position too much lol

Don't double post...

Military also experiments with chemical lasers of powers up to megawatts.

And here is one: MIRACL
it has power over a megawatt for the first 70 seconds, CW
the beam is 14x14 cm, square
it has disabled a satellite at a range of 430km
