Hi everyone,
I was wondering if you could see a 5mw green laser BEAM during the day. I was also wondering if it would be extremely visible at night.
Thanks,

Anything in the 20mW-50mW range will be visible at night. You will be hard pressed to find anything over 5mW in a brick and mortar.

5mw are such a damned ripoff at local stores from experience. I tried out a 5mw green at radioshack and it was pathetic to say the least. But of course they guarentee it's the most powerful handheld laser.

I had one from ebay 5mw and it is visible at night,at least to my knowledge it is not for sale in any store above 5mw. To sell it they would have to have all these safety features for it to be legal, and it would be expensive.

A 5mW green will not produce much of a beam. The only way would be with smoke, or some other particulates in the air.

With regards to the radioshack lasers, I had one and it was able to produce a beam once, in total darkness, on a very humid day. Unfortunately I dropped it, and it no longer works :(

Generally to see a nice beam, not too bright, but enough to use for star pointing 30mW 532nm laser would do well.
