I know know two things:

1. The 515nm diodes by Soraa aren't a hoax.
2. I was one of the few non-vets who did get my hands on one. Having contacts in the right places helps significantly with that.

So, it finally turned up today, and I'll disclose what I can. Bear in mind that this is an engineering sample, (not even an RTM diode, for that matter), so performance may be different from the diodes the Vets have access to.

Nonetheless, it's 515nm in a 5.6mm form factor.

The diode itself is in a small box. I haven't even opened it yet, I don't have a CC driver available at the moment and I don't plan on opening it until I do. These buggers are extremely ESD-sensitive and the very thought of leaving it around is frightning. I've heard stories from the person I got the diode from- some were killed by ESD generated from air movement.

And a datasheet. All sensitive information has been removed.

Expect to see more info some time later this week, depending on how busy I am.

I kinda thought it was funny where it says "Test report is for engineering sample product and must not be released to the general product"

Grate on the sample. looking forward to seeing photos!

This is immature, and wasting a lot of people's time, plus sewing a lot of future resentment on the board. And why?

I question whether people have really thought this through. I'm not sure how it's ever a positive thing to emphasize division intentionally. Especially if that division is a farce.

This is pathetic really. I don't understand what anyone's motivation here is.

Firstly, don't comma splice. Not only does it look incredibly bad, it is also a blinding display of literary incompetence. Learn to either use a semicolon or to break up your sentences.

Nor should you change tenses so many damn times the sentence becomes hard to follow.

Oh, and while you're at it, it's spelt 'sowing', not 'sewing'. You sow seeds, not sew them.

The first sentence should have read:

This is immature, wastes a lot of people's time, and sows lot of future resentment on the board.

See, much easier to understand now. Don't you agree? :)

Secondly, the word 'farce' is used incorrectly in this context; you may wish to rethink your concept choice.

And lastly, this is coming from a veteran who, in their exclusive section, have their own group buys and test data for these 515nm diodes. Double standards- we all love them, don't we?

How ironic.

I'm sorry..... but did this ^ reply really happen ??? :)
Best reminder that we're still on the internet, ever ;p

I really thought that critique of semantics was for the 1997 internet (and/or for those who've just completed their first year of an english lit BA)

Regardless, I think I did fairly well for a comment typed by means of a phone that can't even display the full width of the text input box at once.

Hopping into this little argument, as I wanted to take a break from processing orders :shhh:

Yes that reply did happen. Call me old fashioned, but I believe that taking the effort to type correctly means that you care enough about a particular situation to type well.
Excuses are excuses - if you don't think you can type well with your phone, don't use it to compose a forum post.

There are very few ways to judge character over the internet. I don't know about you, but I enjoy making a good impression.

[/rant]

Stop contradicting yourself, we're on the internet, right? so why so serious? :p

Internet, no internet. It's a language, and it has it's rules which are to be followed- whether you're speaking, writing, or foruming, for that matter.

If you aren't willing to commit (or simply don't have) the mental ability to compose a properly structured, coherent sentence, it goes to show that not only do you not care about the topic at hand, but that you are incapable of caring, or intelligently discussing said topic.

After all, it takes much less effort to construct a proper sentence than it does to hypocritically criticise someone over an engineering sample. If you can't even be bothered to put a sentence together, how could you possibly be capable of doing anything else correctly?

It's almost enough to make you think some time, somewhere out there, the public education system missed a whole batch of kids. It isn't hard- stop driving the degradation of our language.

So, on a lighter note, how's your 515nm GB going? Shame I don't have access to the Vets' section- this ES was a pain to get my hands on.

"ad hominem"
IE: The points you get for passing first year english, you lose for faling first year philosophy, latin, and logical structures 101 ;)

Alternatively, the points I get from not being stuck in a failing education system that churns out the likes of you.

Alternatively, the points I get for not being a halfwit.

Alternatively, the points I get for not being butthurt because someone else just found a fancy-pants ES diode.

Alternatively, you could have just joined the group buy.

You seem a little shy today. I'll ask again- as a public representative of the Veterans' Forum, how is the 515nm Nichia diode group buy coming along?
