Which 16340 batteries are strongest?

I've read every thread on this site that contained information on the 16340, coming to the conclusion that most members prefer the AW brand over all others. Is this still true today? I know the technology advances all the time, just wanting to order the best battery out there.

Yes this is still true. The ones not to buy are the blue ones with no brand name, after that Ultrafire are not real good, other brands with fire in the name seem to be a little better but still not so good and you can't trust the stated capacity in mAh that's printed on their batteries. Other brands are good but yes AW are the best, I read something about them once somewhere, they actually have quality control, they test the batteries, if I remember right the ones with the red label are supposed to be the best ones.

Where is the best place to buy them from? I don't mind spending the extra to make sure they are legit AW batteries

I think you said you are somewhere in the U.S. right? You might want to add that to your profile so it shows under your name. You can buy the AW batteries on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/AW-16340-Rech...d=1456424288&sr=8-3&keywords=16340+battery+AW
Or you can buy them from Survival Laser:
AW IMR 16340 Rechargeable Batteries
I also buy some of my batteries here but they don't sell the AW:
Illumn.com - Flashlights, Batteries, Carry Gear, Intelligent LED Lighting, and More!

$18.40 for 2 batteries from the first link and $11.99 for just 1 battery from the second link. Is that a reasonable cost for these? I've never bought anything beyone AA, AAA, etc. so I have no idea. I've seen others that cost only $3 or $4 each. Are those to be avoided at all cost (including the cost of $3 or $4?).?

Also, (not to hijack this thread) but is there any meaningful difference between 3.0V, 3.2V, or 3.7V? The 3rd one, when used with 2 batteries, increases the total voltage by 1.4V. Couldn't that harm a laser?

Yes for the best quality batteries that is a reasonable cost. There are plenty of lower cost batteries that are ok though. The ones to be avoided at all cost are those cheapest blue ones with no brand name, and many here would say the same about Ultrafire.

Thanks Pi R Squared, one more question. Are their any cr123 batteries that would stack up against the rechargeables? I realize they wouldn't work with protection circuits in all applications.

Those are only 3V, they aren't the same thing, if you use them in a laser that requires one or two of the 3.7V then you will get reduced power and not for long, in some cases it may not work at all.

Hi,
PI is correct sorry a little late on this but AW's are the best !6340's i think they come protected and non . Mind you Original AW's should have a up to date hologram with a line running through the center of the sticker. That's all i use are AW's And Panasoics ..

I'm new here, do I don't know a ton about batteries. I see a few people that seem to like Efest 16340s, but other people shoot them down. How do they compare to brands like AW, Panasonic, or Fenix?

I've read everything I could get my hands about batteries for the past two days, and what Pi says is absolutely correct. Aw builds their batteries with top of the line components and practices quality control, hence a top of the line product across the board. Vape and electronic cigarette users swear by them as well. They are the best bar none according to the flashlight community also. I doubt I will ever buy anything other than AW unless forced to.

I found the 600 mah AW 16340s, a 2 pack for $13.99 at www.eztechproducts.com, a company based in Chicago, Illinois that also has a toll free number to place orders. Can't beat that.

I believe they are mid range battery and members seem to favor the smaller 10440 ones. It could be also because efest are the only brand they can find at that size.
