First... it is already sold or removed...
And yes.. it is a HeNe Laser... From the size of it about 1-3mW

what a joke 1000$ on materials? I bet this can be built for less than 100$...

Yes, but there is a possibility that it be relisted since it was withdrawn for lack of bids. Anyway thanks for the "confirmation" :)

way back in 1988 we had a product that used 5mW HeNe Laser tubes
in a metal tube housing that cost around $600.00 each and the High
Voltage Power Supply Bricks were near that price as well....:cryyy:

Agreeing with Jerry

Just look at "new" HeNe's and PSU's. $1,000 is really not much if you look at the cost of new. Used HeNe stuff is one of the best deals on eBay.

Now I do not for a moment believe that it was built with new components, but it is possible. Production studio staff do not always know about (or want) used equipment.
