Hey all just a quick question. I noticed while giving my argons a run the fan on my rectangular JDSU head wasn't moving as much air as it used to. Unfortunately there's no CFM rating on the fan and the manual doesn't seem to say either. Any ideas on what CFM I should get? I assume the more the better when it comes to cooling the tube.

Which head do you have? UltimateKaiser is the one i would ask this question. Hopefully he'll pop on here and help.

Spec for the 2214 heads is as follows:

Models: 2214-30SL,20GL,30BL,65ML,4VL,5VL,6VL,100MLM:

Nominal air flow is 65CFM. Use Model INB412 McLean Engineering or equivalent fan rated for 185CFM free air and typical pressure head of 1.8 inches of water.

Models: 2214-10SL,20SL,10GL,15GL,10BL,20BL,25ML,40ML:

Nominal air flow is 52 CFM. Use Dayton Model 4C442 or equivalent fan rated for 140 CFM free air and typical pressure head of 0.95 inch of water.

2211 heads should be fairly similar, they use the same tube, just a different form factor for the housing.

yes. Generally about 150CFM under no load is adequate. a good blower, or a metal high speed fan is best. something that can cope with the temperature. I've been contemplating selling my argon, as I dont use it much/if ever...but I doubt it'd fetch enough money to be worth it. People don't pay nearly as much for them now as they used to. :/

yeah. I love it to death, but it takes up a lot of space, and as much as I like it, it sees less use these days now that I have an omni 643 that I can both RYB and YB by changing the HR, and i have my solid states, so it mostly just gets run every few months lightly to keep it healthy. reaches around 120mW or so iirc.

its still got about half its 10K hour gague left so its in excellent shape compared to most surplus heads and does all 6 lines nicely. but I'd prolly want 600-700 possibly more for it as its such a nice one, and I've cleaned and babied it alot. i've procrastinated though, as shipping it would be a pain.

LOL. Got busier than a one legged man at an ass kicking contest and forgot I posted this thread. The head in question is a JDSU 2211-65ML. I'll poke around amazon and see what I can find for it. Thanks again!
