Re: Deal or not? 25mW ML argon

For $300 plus shipping, I'll sell you a Lasos (box style) 40mW Multi-Line W/ PSU, fan, and current-control (potentiometer) remote.

I know my photography skills suck ;) The fan will be a 110V fan that you can fit to the top of the laser. You will need to add the cord to the wall. The remote will be a self-contained unit that screws onto the front of the PSU. You can get a rough estimate of shipping by going to USPS.com. The laser and PSU end up ~30 pounds packaged and it will be shipped from 91744

That's very tempting. I was trying to find a head to go with the PSU I have though.

Then it's not that great of a deal, no. Not bad, but not great either.

Re: Deal or not? 25mW ML argon

Whether something is a deal or not is very subjective. However, I would NEVER shell out $250 for just a JDSU laser head.

All you have to do is simply compare my offer to the auction. I am not trying to talk you into my offer. Someone else will buy it. It is simply used to illustrate the differences available. Compare an untested solitary laser for $250 to a tested laser, PSU, fan, and remote for $300

I am an eBay user. I have a feedback of <900. As with anything, if you want a "deal" on eBay, wait and watch. Patience will get you what you want eventually. You often times just need to wade through a bunch of crap on the way.

To me, that auction ain't a deal.

That's a sweet deal daguin. Too bad you live on the wrong side of the Atlantic.

Like daguin said, the deal he offered is definitely superior to just the head alone, after all you can sell of the PSU to offset the costs. Or are you just really attached to that specific PSU? :p

Absolutely! The change in shipping costs has almost completely killed my international business for argons and HeNe's

The PSU's are different. He cannot use this one for the JDSU laser. He would end up with two different laser systems.

I meant he can sell the PSU that he has atm and put the money towards buying your turn-key system.

Which I would gladly take off your hands, if it wasn't for the added 200$? shipping costs. USPS really screwed the pooch on that call.

I am assuming he also has another laser to go with the PSU he already has. For example, he has a PSU and an "SL" laser, but wants an "ML" as well. I may be wrong.

Oh, lol, and I was assuming he just has a PSU and is looking for head. :)

Either way, 2 Argon >>>>> 1Argon

Yeah. Those two will not work together. The eBay laser will work with your PSU (if the laser works that is). My Lasos/Spectra-Physics would not work with either of your components.

A little off-topic, but Dave do you still have that yellow HeNe? That thing was a beauty.

Re: Deal or not? 25mW ML argon

Got the head yesterday(31st). I didn't pay the price listed on the page though.

I hooked up a fan and jumped the pins required for idle. The laser fires up pretty quick. There are two problems though. The color is magenta. Almost like combining red and blue. It is out of focus too.

Here is a picture. My hand isn't even one foot away.

Probably dead, if remember correctly, when you pass a current through argon you get magenta (without any mirrors or filtering). Although I'm not a professional, I'll guess that one of the mirrors is missing,

Re: Deal or not? 25mW ML argon

It's not dead, the fact that your seeing the plasma glow is a very good sign. The only problem is that the mirrors have been bumped out of alignment. I'm not familiar with the argon that you have, do you see any adjustment screws around the output coupler mirror and the HR mirror? Realignment may be very difficult and take lots of time, but if you're seeing the purple glow out of the end like that, then it'll lase, just needs a good alignment.
