Does anyone think this is worth it?
I may bid on a Melles Griot tube with PSU...present bid is 38 bucks.
This is 1.3 mw and of course requires a supply
for 25 bucks it sounds like a good deal.
There are 10 available

I have some small tubes doing over 1 mW. Also those NEC laser disc tubes are pretty low output.

They're pretty good deals, it's not a huge steal or anything, but that's probably what I'd go for if I wanted another HeNe. If this is your fist experience with gas lasers I'd recommend getting a tube with a cover, rather than just a bare tube. When I first got mine I remember wising it was bare, but as I look back I'm thankful it wasn't. :)

Here's the cheapest covered heads I could find: MG 632.8nm HeNe & SP 632.8 HeNe

A PS with about the same specs as the 05-LPM-379 should be able to run both, (pls correct me if I'm wrong) Meredith Instruments has them for $75. You can most certainly find them for less if you wait, (I got one for $23) but MI is probably best if you want one right away.

I'm not saying you have to get a covered tube, but as someone who is still relatively new to gas lasers myself I would recommend it for beginners. :)

Also, link to beam expander pls?

They're not bad tubes. but a small melles griot tube like an LHR-004 which is a hard seal, would be more reliable and less fragile if you want something to run on your desk. those tubes are more intended as parts in a laserdisc. I have a several I could sell you for 30 bucks or so each depending on the size and power you wanted.
