That sounds like it should work fine. air is pulled through the head and then exhausted out the back. Just make sure that the fan is sealed to the duct well.

Well, the fan should have arrived by the 30th, unfortunately it still isn't here :( :( :(.
I think I'll just take it with me to SELEM and borrow a fan to fire it up there.

In any case, I should be able to get it running sometime next week.

It's probably at least a little overpressure by now. I wouldn't be surprised if it took a few pulses to get it started.

Matt, hard to believe you've been trying to get this to work for the past eight a a half months. I wish you all the luck in the world.

Well, to be honest, most of the wait was just because I was busy (And maybe a little lazy) and just didn't get around to it.:tinfoil:

So ebay gave me a refund for the fan because it still hasn't arrived. So I ordered another sltightly different fan so when I get back from SELEM I can set it up.

indeed. fun times. I can't go this year due to funding issues, as well as some local obligations that have come up.

That stinks, I hate it when that kind of stuff happens on ebay.

Hope you get it running. :)

SELEM was great!

On Saturday we got around to firing up my argon. When we lit it and turned up the current to 9A it didn't lase so the cause was that it was misaligned.
So we took the front cover off and MarioMaster attempted to align it. It only took a few seconds to get a flash out of it. (Since it is an internal mirror laser, like the medium/small HeNe lasers, to adjust the alignment permanently you need to bend the metal stem that the mirror is on.)
After MarioMaster fiddled with it for about half an hour he got it to do 5mW on idle and 87mW at 9A. It does 5 lines on idle and 6 after about
6.5A.

Special thanks to MarioMaster for his help aligning it and answering my questions :thanks:.

Last Years and my first lem they had a beast argon that VidalWolf had. Took them about an hour to get the mirrors lined up. It was doing six lines when fully powered... I didnt ask the amps. There was just too many lasers going on!!

It's always a pleasure to see the large frame argon ions or even argon kryptons at SELEM. They had a Lexel 95 running that put out 2.5W :gun: max at something like 25A I think.

Just gonna put this pic here.

Also, wen I ran the laser I noticed that the head was getting warm, not hot, but just warm. Is that normal?
I actually added a second smaller fan inside my adapter to help the airflow a little.

Picture was taken when running between 6 and 7 amps IIRC.

Yeah it'll probably get pretty toasty. Normal op current for me is about 7A to get my 40mW IIRC. Looks good. Actually been thinking about selling mine to a good home. I rarely use it these days. I think I have some argon HRs to sell too.
