Nice pics, thanks for posting :yh:

The green 514nm line of your laser seems to be very strong. On my ALC-60X, there are max. 9 lines, but the green 514nm line doesn't appear below 8A tube current.

Regards
argon

At lower tube currents the 514nm line has lower gain than the 488nm line, but at higher currents the gain on 514nm line is greater than the 488nm line. High currents favour green.

You should still get 514 at low currents. It probably means your tube is near the end.

I don't think, the tube is near end-of-life. Every ALC-60X I've seen until now has the same behaviour. I have two ALC-60X with this kind of behaviour, and a friend of mine has two pieces as well and all the spctrums of other ALC-60X units look the same. And - maybe I'm wrong, but I think it could not be a bad sign that the tube can show up all of the 9 lines. Older tubes which are dying normally don't deliver more than 2 or 3 lines around the main 488nm line. Unfortunately I can't measure the power output from mine, but it is enough to burn on the hand.

Best regards

BOOO! I want a multiline argon! Nice pics elektro!

*closes laserphysics argon singline shutter. Dont look little guy, you get jealous* :)

For those interested, this is typical of a argon gas lasers innards (excluding the PSU of course)

This is an NEC GLG3030 tube, which did around 20 mw. Its expired though. Argons have a heated filament and this one was mistreated, resulting in the filament opening up.

I wish I could take credit for the pics in this thread.. that's all greenmechanic. Here's a couple pics I took of mine:

And this one is a pic that was taken by Daguin when the laser was still his:

I will let you know via PM EF- i am calling him soon to see if its cool for me to drop in on him during my Fl. 'vacation'.

One of his last days here T_J copypastaed a bunch of Marks replies to the noobs in Welcome with a smart-ass remark like- ' post whore' or something that implied he was wasting space doing welcomes --

many do Welcomes and IMO it is a good thing-

I dont think Mark was tryting to up his postcount as it was already over 1000 but maybe he took offence to our resident TROLL in charge and decided to focus on the many other things in his very busy life.

I know GreenM (Mark) well and he is a great person and so is T_J so I wish they would just 'group hug' and have things go back the way the were,,

my dos centavos
