Hello there, here is my spirograph V2.
-3 motors, a poti each and two of them have reversible direction
-fixed green with LM1117 driver
-runs off a single LiIon

It looks like frickin mess, but I kinda do like it.

Hope I didn't bore you guys too much.:na:

OK, so here's a video, trying to catch some of the best effects:

That's a spiro direct from CNI, correct?

J/k, I love seeing people recycle stuff as I do it too.

Pretty cool set up you have made there I realy like how you have recycled everything right down to the insulated connection points, +2 for a job well done, lets see some beam shots now ;)

Yes, I have yet to build one, and absolutely LOVE seeing the output these produce, so how about it? Let's get some action shots!

I can't think of the schematic for a reversible direction for a motor... mind elaborating?

IIRC some use a DPDT switch- middle is off and two directions right and left.

+1 if you tell where you harvested those pots. i want 4 motors and the ability to go slowly from dead stop to fast.

Can I 'knife edge' lasers of different nms? as long as they were a little tight together and fit on the mirrors 3 colors would be nice imo.:yh:
GOOD[ but sloppy (like me) ]

Sorry to disappoint you, those are the volume knobs from the CD-ROM drive.:D
And they are "tuned" with a resistor in parallel, but the control is horrible.:D
One has the motor stopped for all but the last 1/10th of the range,
another one only goes from "slow" to "somewhat faster" over the whole range,
only one actually goes from stop to fast in a somewhat linear manner.
I'll either have to retrim those other two pots, or maybe let the pots
drive transistors, or maybe go buy some proper potentiometers in the first place, or....

I think I could maybe dichro in a red beam there without too much trouble, using the PHR sled mirror.
Good idea, hmmmmm....

I thought people here would be familiar with 3 motor spiro images, there
are a couple videos on the forum after all, but yeah, let me try and get
a good video.

Two choices for me-(my soldering and building skillz suck) either a ready-made or kit DC motor controller. Neither is cheap and I need four. Somebody said the ceramic rheostats can be used but IDK . Anyone wantig free pots or rheos in return for knowledge check the pics in my albums at my profile page . I have about 200 from a lot eekbay buy.

meawhile I found an easy solution-- i am going to 'cheat' I took apart 2 small red DJ laser spiros w/speed & direction controls- and music reactive mics- swapping out the red for Br and Green and combining to two to make one 4 motor, paid less than 30$ for both-as-is for repairs etc.

pics as the 'build' progresses-

I also sell at cheap prices 3vdc quaility motors with FS mirrors already attached.
PM for details. sizes med. small and even smaller-

As you can see, I should mount a bigger mirror on the last motor.

Very nice and fun anselm, congratulations

Appears mounted on the carcass of a hard drive, but obviously this looks bigger :D
