hey guys! you may have seen this in the "circuits" thread, but i'll post it here so i doesn't get lost! this method is a great way for creating simple circuits using only microsoft word, and the symbols(attached). i gather all(or most) of you know how to put pictures in MSW(microsoft word)? simply download and unzip these symbols, then place them where you woud like. i made up this circuit using this method a while ago, but i was in a rush, so anyone with some time will do a better job!
Marx_Generator.PNG

here are the symbols. for people using different operating sytems, let me know and i will change the filetype.

Re: A way to draw simple circuits

just a quick tip! if the components don't line up how you want them to, turn off "snap to grid". to turn off snap to grid, go down to the bottom of word, and click on "draw" (shown in attachment one).

then click on grid, the dialog box will come up, then click on "snap objects to grid" to unselect it(attachment 2)

thanks gazoo! oh, BTW if the "drawing" toolbar isn't there, go up to "view", then go down to "toolbars", then click on "drawing".
enjoy ;)

Re: A way to draw simple circuits

things,

Nice info, thanks. I'm curious about the circuit you featured here. Does this actually work and what are your output voltages? Must be pretty high with the multiplier stages but I imagine the diodes weren't cheap!
Don't want to get OT too much here, but I am a HV guy myself.

Thanks,
Jon

Re: A way to draw simple circuits

it's actually a marx generator, there are no diodes, just caps, spark gaps and resistors. i haven't finished it yet, but i estimated the voltage output to be about 150kv if i get it working properly.

Re: A way to draw simple circuits

oh maybe you were talking about the 1N5007's? they are for rectification, and they only cost me $7 for a bag of 100

Ah, ok, didn't look close enough to not see the diodes. Good luck with it..... I've never gone down this path with ignition coils, just lamp dimmer driven and simple multipliers that's about it..

Thank you for making this available to the rest of us Things. :)

I'm sure many people who do not have access to schematics software will be able to put it to good use :D

Thanx;

I think those spark gaps act as a diode but the same circuit with diodes acts as a multiplier. Makes good ion generators.

OH -- Gazoo -- You and I have better things to do than moderate.. Someone has to build stuff !!! I couldn't stand the problems. I prefer to let SenKat, the timelord and others do it ;D
