Re: Resistor color code converter for the scavange

Excellent find there, but for those that don't run Windows and / or don't like installing unknown software, resistors are easy enough. If you have one with a 3 digit code (SMTs, some Milspec) it's the same format as bands 1-3. I believe SMT capacitors are the same, but the units are in pF.

Band 1: Digit 1.
Band 2: Digit 2.
Band 3: Multiply by 10^x
Band 4: Tolerance

0 - Black
1 - Brown
2 - Red
3 - Orange
4 - Yellow
5 - Green
6 - Blue
7 - Violet / Purple
8 - Grey
9 - White
-1 - Gold
-2 - Silver

Tolerance:
5% - Gold
10%- Silver
20% - None

Edit: added gold and silver for sub-10ohm resistors

Re: Resistor color code converter for the scavange

for example: a 2.2 ohm 4 band code resistor is RED RED GOLD GOLD. Translates to 2 2 X.1 5% tol. = 2.2 ohm 5% tol.

lol that program is for lazy people! :D ;D as said above, figuring out resistors is very simple, and there is even some ryhmes that tell you the colour values! :D
