Hi All,

just one really quick question, i know the phr diode has a case pin in the middle and can be used as a case possitive or negative, but what about a red diode? the last pin, what is it for ? can it also be used as a case pin the same way as the phr?

And what is the theory behing soldering the negative and case pins together on the phr? does this mean it only requires a possitive source added as its already grounded within?

In the PHR the case pin (no black ring) can be used for the negative connection ONLY IF the negative pin is connected to it. The crystal is case neutral. The crystal is NOT electrically connected to the case. In order for the case to act as a connection for the diode, the negative pin MUST be connected to the case, either by soldering the case pin to the negative pin or soldering the negative pin directly to the case

In the red diode the case pin IS the negative connection.

Peace,
dave

Solder the negative to the case pin, dont bend the pins! The host will have to pass negative throughout the body and the posative through the driver to the diode + pin :)

*This will work with a red that has case negative just the same.

lol now im even more lost, using mitches diy guide the possitive is connected to the case pin? "wannaburn" can i reverse your example and will that work? the only reason for this is because the green wish pointer hosts dont usually have good contact with the 10440 batteries if the nagative end goes in first they dont always touch the case to make contact...

so from what i gathered the case pin on the red diode must be the third and last pin?
