Questions before I make a mod #2

A few questions I need to anser.

#1 If I take the IR filter off my 50mW (Yes I know its not a good thing to do but im testing NightVision goggles) how much more extra mW's of power should I get?

#2 If I did make a simple pot mod (NOT juice it all the way up by disable of the resistor) how much life would I be taking off my LD. (Obviously if they were not already maxed out parts)

And yes for #2 I am aware of the stuff you guys told me about saturation and how their already pushed to the limits im alot of cases but I just want to know what would happen if I did it in normal cases with normal good quality diodes that have not been pushed to the limits yet.

50mw what? dx laser? is it a pen styal or barrel?
maybe you would get up to 10mw of IR with out the filter. every laser is different.
as you said pot mod probably = bad idea
