in thinking of getting a large c/d cell flashlight and modding it to carry 3x2 CR123s ( 2 per driver / diode) and making 3 lasers and then mounting all 3 inside the flashlight

all 3 drivers on protoboard (lines of copper) in spare battery cavity with heat pipes ( 8mm bare twin n earth conductor) all to case as big heatsink

from all 3 lr317 and 3 axaiz modules /diodes, modules in the front with mounting XP and more heat pipes

just gotta wait for my diodes and modules to arrive i have made all my drivers already

all mounts / internal constrct will be.... MECHANO :p easy to bend and quite sturdy once made

i will epoxy lego cogs to the focus rings and 1 on a pivot in the middle for focus :) this is only a IDEA i most likley will just make 3 normal 160-200mw handhelds

I don't have any need for a three laser mod, but the idea to use LEGO/Technic cogs as extended focusing rings for the Aixiz module is inspired.

It would even open up possibilities for repeatable servo-driven focusing. Taking it even further, if you could kit-bash the output of one of those ultrasonic rangefinders like this http://www.hobbyengineering.com/H2951.html into a LEGO Mindstorms control unit, or your own PLC and servos, you'd have a pushbutton auto-focusing laser.

Only problem I see is that the sonar type measurments will probably not get a good bounce off of balloons or matches, but the biggest object in the background.
