Possible to put Highpowered IR diode in cheap DX?

I was wondering. If I ripped the optics from a green DX laser, could I put a high-powered IR behind the optics?


I know I won't be able to fit it into the case again, but could I set up the optics again on something else?

Just wondering.

There's already a high power IR diode in there. If you look around the forum soneone has already made a Newwish green laser into a very nice looking IR laser.

i think he means putting in a larger pump diode for a higher green output

its my understanding that you have to use better crystals

Indeed. The crystals in the laser itself are only capable of putting out so much power before the heat generated ends up toasting them. kinda create non-volitile GOO of your crystals!
