lots of people use modded flashlights as "hosts" for their lasers.  has anyone used a rechargeable drill??  http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=237651-79992-FS360&lpage=none  Obviously you'd have to take only the electronics and ditch the mechanical parts for other uses.

http://bdonlinestore.com/product_detail.asp?T1=BDT+VP135 the batteries and charger can be had fairly cheap

The voltage is about right and it is rechargeable.  If a suitable heatsink and lens cover were added, it could work.  It is not terribly expensive for a rechargeable laser body.

Every man feels like he's got a gun LOL ;D when doing the DIY with his cordless drill so with a laser housed in it sounds like a plan ;) Is this just a thought steve? or a serious project?

for now just a thought and I'm looking for input, but I think it can be turned into a workable rechargeable laser. The benefit is the batteries and the charger, not the body/drill itself.

If you are looking for rechargable batteries - I have a HUGE amount of Motorola Razr V3 batteries.....3.6v each....

Why, thank you! :)

Ragnarok - what's the divergence on that beast ? LOL

Whatever you want it to be - the former "torque" setting ring is now "focus" ;) (best balloon-popping and match-lighting is of course achieved with the "drill" setting ;D ), and a small fan vents the heat from the TEC through the former motor vent slots very nicely.

You know it's only a matter of time. Hercules II anyone? :p

see - that't exactly what I'm talking about - spurring the creative juices and think about something other than the standard "tubes" we're used to seeing lasers in.

(With enough power, it would still "drill" without ever dulling the "drill bit".)
