desslok

Here you go:

Going anti-clockwise from 12 o'clock gives you the Violet laser diode. There's Red and IR too.

Do you know if anyone here has made switching circuitry to utilise each of these diodes from the one can?

Good luck with the build! Don't rush it!

I've got my bluray diode sitting in my anti-static bag. Just looking at me daring to break it...I bought a pointer from Lesley Wright in the meantime so I can bask in its glorious blue beam...ah....

Nice, thanks a ton!  Not sure if anybody has made a switching circuit.  I have thought about it.  But in all honesty, i would probably make 2 circuits, 2 switches if anything.  Although my idea would be a 2 stage trigger, pull halfway and the violet lights up, pull the trigger all the way back and the red ignites/pops your target.

OK, off to the laboroatory,...er...I mean garage

Sorry to "pop your target" but the red in a PS3 sled is a reader. I toasted one at about 70 mA. Damage the red and you may loose the Blu.

Re: Looking for blu-ray pinout NOT on fineartdiogr

Hi im still new to all of this and wondering if there is anyone who can give a quick but thorough walk through. I just received my PS3 sleds from psxboy and dont want to touch them unless I can get some help with the major issues. Ive looked for links, but just cant find anything reassuring to get started. Mainly if anyone has some tips, links or experiance in the following:

-harvesting
-simplest driver (safe)
-the dont do's

I hope one of you have the time to help a n :-X :-Xb, as I am quite anxious to dig in. I have read a lot of the posts, and I have to say there are some really creative, and smart people on here. I dont think there is another forum like this! Very cool and very crazy, it just cant be beat!

Thanx in advance

Benny, in response to harvesting the diode: I just went at mine and basically took apart the entire sled before I found the diode (after which I had a very DUH moment). Its on the side, connected to a ribbon cable. It should just slide right out and then you can desolder the connections.
for a driver, just use the basic DDL driver, it's all over the forum, use the search button

I just read the all the info of the link provided, it quite informative. One question I still have is, what is a suitable dummy load for this. I have some stuff kicking around but am not sure what to use. :-[

Two groups of 3 LED's in series connected in parallel worked great for me ;)

That sounds easy enough, what should be my target ma.? I hear 38, but that may have changed, is that too much?

38ma is the highest, safe current. If you use a pot you can find the lasing threshold and then go up another 10ma.

thank you soooo much, I just couldnt start doing anything until I talked it over first. These diodes came from hong kong but look to be well worth the wait. Any idea where to get some kinda spec sheet for these ones?? I found for Sharp, but 120mw! so I dont believe there will be any use for that ;)

I actually got one more question, where I live, Radio shack no longer exists. They are called The Source by Circuit City. THIS SUCKS! It seems the overall IQ of the country has declined over the years, and supply of some of the more popular bits and bites being used, are no longer available. The Daedal circuit for the BR calls for a lm317, I have a 7805 from nexxtech (the source, aka RadioShack). Its a small voltage regulator with three pins : input, ground, output. It says +5vdc . up to 1A. Is this a suitable substitute?
